Last night, Stargate fans took twitter by storm.  Lead by @StargateNow and The Stargate Initiative, Fandom Force positively lit it up!

North American fans showed up en masse, and were joined by international fans in addition to more than a few familiar faces.

I’ll have a full rundown for you tomorrow but, for now, here’s are the key stats –

Over 100k tweets sent.  We trended #1 in Canada, France, the U.K., #2 in the U.S., #6 in Australia, and #7 Worldwide!  That’s HUGE!

In fact, we continued to trend hours past the scheduled one hour event and, in some instances, still trending into the wee morning hours.  Not bad for a SciFi series that has been off the air for five years!  Congratulations!

And we get to do it all over again when our international contingent hits twitter today in a little over 3 hours!  Check the times in your area and join us for this final round!  And make sure to follow @StargateNow and @StargateNow_EU for today’s secret hashtag (to be released 15 minutes before launch).

    Last night was FUN!! So glad US, Canada, UK, France did so well!
    Hoping that MGM sees the HUGE audience just waiting for Stargate’s return to series TV (of course based on in-canon knowledge/background). I enjoy watching all of DVD’s but really want a new series to get excited about again.

    MGM — Stargate was NOT just another sci-fi show. It had personality, style, a unique concept that has endeared itself to LEGIONS of fans. Please pay attention and give us a new Stargate series!

        I feel your pain SteveG1. Twitter called me a robot and turned off my account. Therefore, I missed 40 minutes of the Friday night tweet storm and all of the Saturday one because I was not home. So depressed!

          Awe don’t be depressed, well no yet. If we don’t get more Stargate I’ll join you in a bout lol. I know what are twitter all about. I honestly couldn’t believe my eyes when they said “I’ve reached my daily limit” had no option but to make a new account so I could keep going.

      Sorry guys. We didn’t know they had new limits for daily totals. It used to be just anything more than 60-100 in an hour’s time. We’ll know better for next time to advise people. We appreciate what you did and tried to do. We had to be very careful too with how many tweets we posted that hour. We didn’t want to get locked out of our account. It is always a fear during these things for us.

        hiYa PBMom, thanks for reply. I’ve already decided if we need to go again(hopefully not) I’m going to open three of four Twitter accounts before hand so that when gets the brakes thrown on one I can jump straight on to another. You have no idea how devastated I felt when Twitter told me I had “Reached My Daily Limit” I think it’s fair to say I was totally taken aback with shock and disbelief to start with then once I got over it with some very well placed explicit words to Twitter it dawned on me I can open a new account and start again. So if we have to go again it’s not just hash tags I need to get ready but also usernames and passwords.

      It actually wasn’t. When you sent the picture out, it says right on the picture “trends for you” That means Twitter is telling you where the things you like are showing up, not what is really trending. We kept a close eye on it. The only place where #StargateAlive trended was in France. That was it. Nowhere else. I was checking every country. Sorry. I even told you this on the tweet you sent out, but perhaps you didn’t see my response?

    So many great tweets! A few originals from me, and my poor finger stiffened up from retweeting! It was so much fun. I was laid off from my job last month after 15 years, and have been beyond sad, but man, this was fantastic! The possible rebirth of Stargate, can’t ask for anything better!

    So much fun! Until my husband came home and was reading everything over my shoulder, making me slow down to show him tweets, and generally bugging the crap out of me about what’s this, what’s that?. No, he does not Twitter, and tweets will never be his thing. I love him dearly, but we distract the hell out of each other sometimes.

      We wouldn’t be able to use that one. It is not unique (that is it has been used too much by others for other things). We need a completely unique (never used before or maybe once a few years in the past) hashtag.
