Yes!  As many of you pointed out in the comment section, yesterday’s post marked the 10 year anniversary of this blog.  As I wrote on that very first day back on November 21st of 2007:

“Here I sit, watching the battery recharge on my new HD camera (less than an hour to go!), making final preparations for my trip to Hong Kong and Tokyo. For the purposes of keeping a travel diary of sorts – and keeping you all entertained, natch – I’m attempting my second foray into the wonderful world of blogging. Unlike the last blog which focused on the show and its various behind-the-scenes happenings, this one will adopt a more scattershot approach, covering a variety of topics in a half-ass manner, ensuring that anyone checking it out in search of any one thing will come away feeling wholly dissatisfied or, at the very least, somewhat disappointed.”

And I truly feel that, over these 10+ years, I have succeeded in consistently dissatisfying and disappointing.  But I couldn’t have done it without you all.  So – a huge thanks to all of you, my extended blog family.

While yesterday marked a full decade since my very first blog entry, this Thursday is pretty special as well as it marks 10 full years of uninterrupted daily blogging.

Big stunts day today. We spent most of the afternoon shooting the Ash beatdown and kill shot. This morning, meanwhile, marked our first day [the actress who plays] Solara Shockley graced our set.  More on her and our [actor who plays] Adrian Maro tomorrow after the official press release.  THEN, feel free to follow them on twitter!

  1. Is it my imagination or is Bubba critiquing your fashion choices?

My question for Roger Cross: How does he find time to sleep? He seems to pop up in nearly every Canadian tv show. He definitely deserves the title of Canada’s Busiest Actor

  2. Congrats Joe! That’s a couple of days early as I’ll likely be in full Turkey mode on Thursday. Ten years of continuous blogging is quite an achievement.

I’d have some fun programming that clock…as long as it can talk back. 😉

And hey! P-38 Lightning cufflinks! With invasion stripes no less! Where did those come from?

  3. For Roger Cross: I enjoyed interviewing you, Jodelle and Mike in Vancouver. However, I forgot to ask you, of all the roles you have played, which is your favorite. Maybe I should rephrase that – of all the roles you’ve played, other than Six in Dark Matter, which was your second favorite.

  4. For Roger Cross:

Thanks for answering our questions. I’ve enjoyed your performance of Six so far and I’m sure that I will enjoy season three even more so.

I noticed that between the Continuum and Dark Matter characters that you’ve played that both seemed to be criminals (to some degree) that had moments or paths of redemption that were played out during the progression of the show (okay Six wasn’t technically a criminal to start, but he had his moments of defying authority for the right reasons in season two). Has this been a character profile that you’ve sought out and maybe enjoy playing, or was it all just happenstance? Or maybe a mix?

    Thanks again!

  5. @Narelle! Missed you on this blog. Don’t be a stranger. 😳🤓❤️

    Time flies @Mr. M.

  6. My questions for Roger Cross. 1) Have you previously worked with any of your fellow cast mates? 2) If you could work with any actor/actress you wanted, who would it be? 3) If you could be any other Dark Matter character who would it be and why?

  7. Mr Mallozzi. I have been a daily follower since early 2011 when I discovered your blog while trying to find “How much longer do I have to wait for the 2nd half of SGU Season one????”. I haven’t missed a blog entry since, and I have never “come away feeling wholly dissatisfied or, at the very least, somewhat disappointed” in these past 5+ years. I can only infer that this must have occurred during those formative first-4 years. Now, if I can just work my way out of lurking and be more of a participant…… baby steps!

    Congrats on 10 years!

  8. If by “consistently” disappointing you mean “NEVER”, then you are right on. Every entry is a gem as far as I’m concerned!

  9. Ohhhhh, now I understand why you dress so nice each day. Isn’t it because you don’t want to be asked to stand in for the Stunt coordinator as Two practices. Or maybe you don’t want to be asked to crawl through that tunnel to see if Five will fit comfortably. Or maybe you don’t want to be asked to help paint the Raza hallways again. Or maybe you don’t want Three to ask to borrow your jacket for the next shot. (There are no pinstripes in space.) Or maybe you don’t want Six to ever bear hug you again as he fears he may wrinkle your suit. Or maybe Four knows better than to come near you with his swords while you’re dressed like that. Everyone leaves you alone! You are a sly one Joe.

  10. ASH!! You introduce him then kill him! “beatdown and kill shot”. How rude.

In the Raza mess, is that Tattooine or Mars? Is “the clock” bluetooth compatible? Regardless, I want one!

Happy Hump Day!! Love all the pics!

  11. Self depricate all ya want Joe but personally i think we are the best damn little dysfunctional family in the whole wide world And we owe it all to you.
I love you all with all my heart n soul n so much more than words could ever say.
Albeit here I am in this dark new nightmare we once called America awake at 2 am..
… Dammmmit Gforce! Couldnt you have picked another frikin night to finally fall fast asleep!
    XO 😃 XO

  12. Hiya @Markme1! Good to finally meet you 😊

@KathyC …. oh, SUSHI socks. I actually thought they were the aftermath of a tomato ketchuped french fry attacking the fried eggs!

That’s what happens when you view a blog first thing in the morning…… 😶

  13. Love the tie. You have the most gorgeous shoes I have ever seen and I have seen a lot of men shoes. Your look is so classic but with the fun touches. I enjoy seeing your looks.

For roger cross: you work so much all over the place, I wonder which city do you enjoy working in most? Is there a city you wish you could work in? Do you prefer to stay in hotels or an apartment while working? What has been a role you have enjoyed in the past? What is your process to memorize a script? It is something I find so difficult to do. Love your work!

  14. What a magnificent decade of half-assery!

Oooh, tick tock … does it tick? I hope it ticks menancingly.

Love the delicate floral print on the tie.

  15. The “not a clock” is coming together nicely! I can’t wait to see it do whatever it is that it does, besides not telling time.

Your P-38 cuff links are really cool! And like Jeff said, even with invasion stripes.

Happy Thanksgiving, to my fellow American readers! I hope you have a great holiday.

Joe, you should celebrate Thanksgiving regardless of being Canadian. It’s the only holiday that’s really all about food. It was made for you.

  16. Congratulations on ten years of drivel! Hey, I’m just echoing your sentiment… 😉

In all honesty though, it’s been fun for me these last 6 years or so following along on all your travels, getting amazing behind the scenes pictures and stories, getting to know the cast and crew on your shows, learning all the fun Akemi-isms, riding the ups and downs of dog ownership, getting free culinary tours of many restaurants I’ll never be able to visit, getting a writer’s take on books and comics, all the weird food purchases of the day, and so much more that I can’t recall at the moment.

It always provides a nice break in the day to catch up on your blog, seeing how the dogs are doing, all the latest and greatest from the set or who’s really pissed you off.

It’s been a great ride, and while I may not comment as often as many others here, I definitely read and enjoy every post. Keep up the great work, Joe, here and with DM.

    Thanks for all the fun!
    -Mike A.

  17. Since you seem to be an eclectic collector of cufflinks, I have a pair of United Federation of Planets cufflinks that I will happily give to you, but only if you really want them. I no longer own a shirt with French cuffs, so they are useless to me. I will send you the photo on Twitter, as I don’t know how to post it here.

  18. I love Bubba is carefully hovering around you. The fashion hog doesn’t want you to have all the spotlight. He wants to show off his styles, too.

How are they feeling? Belated Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I was head-deep in pet sitting the entire weekend, and well, it looks like I may have injured my left knee. I had an MRI today. I’ll find out next week.

  19. Guess I have not been watch this blog on a daily basis like I should be, but I will do better as I complete my therapy. Found out why I am getting the parental alert on your blog. (need to go to Apple again) Congratulations on your 10th anniversary!
