Hey, what’s the old Stargate gang up to?  Well, I’m glad you asked.

September 9, 2015: Checking In On Some Old Friends! Dark Matter Set Tour Part 3!

Former Stargate Executive Producer and writer (and, oh by the way, Dark Matter season 1 Consulting Producer) Martin Gero is show running his own series, Blindspot, that premieres on NBC – Monday, September 21st at 10:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, I little further north, former Stargate fight and stunt coordinator – and present Arrow right and stunt coordinator, James “Bam Bam” Bamford is multi-tasking this upcoming season, assuming the directorial reins for an episode.

Very happy for both these guys and wishing them all the best in the coming weeks and months.  Looks like they’re going to be VERY busy!

Speaking of which – big conference call today with Executive Producer Vanessa Piazza and Line Producer Norman Denver to discuss Dark Matter’s second season.  Then, next week, the room reconvenes to – hopefully – finish breaking those last handful of episodes!

Let’s cap today’s blog entry by continuing our tour of the Dark Matter sets: the quarters!

  1. Big kudos to both Martin and James for doing so great in their careers. I’m really looking forward to checking out Blindspot.

After getting home from trip out West early (2:00am) this morning, I did manage to get to work today on time – but I don’t think I was very productive! 🙂 Hopefully I’ll get a full night’s sleep tonight and feel better tomorrow.

  2. Oooh, Blindspot does look interesting.

I’ve been wondering what other people in the ole Stargate gang had been getting up to. Thank you for answering my unspoken question.

The Dark Matter sets are looking good.

  3. Joe ever thought about putting a trailer on the property at the Toronto studio and living in it while in production? Walk to work, go “home” for lunch, sleep until 10 minutes before they need you on set. Sounds like a good idea to me.

  4. Awwww Joe that was lovely. As a fan I’m proud of what both of these guys have achieved, particularly BamBam as I run a BamBam fansite .

Will you be filling us in on what’s been happening with the rest of the crew? Kenny from Props, Carl Binder, Alex Levine, Brad Wright. Martin Wood etc

Well my NFL Fantasy Draft is done and I think I did fairly well… Always a worry with Tony Romo as he can be up and down. Although I did manage to get Marshawn Lynch so I’m happy. How did everyone else fare?

    Cheers, Chev

  5. I think Blindspot will be the next Blacklist on NBC. It has everything that NBC were lacking in that Monday slot last year, action, action, and more action. It’s no wonder the network had a terrible year last year with the decisions made. That FBI guy has the action hero thing down perfectly and with a strong female lead alongside him, as seen in the picture, it’s quite the impressive show.

As for Bamford, his work in Arrow/The Flash is impressive, I loved the er, whats the word, finale that had Oliver vs Ra’s. The show took a short break, and having your hero stabbed and kicked off a cliff by the bad guy is crazy. Of course you know he lives as well, there’s no show without Oliver Queen but wow, what a way to end. Also the confrontation between The Flash, w/Oliver/Firestorm etc helping vs Reverse Flash was really well done. Hoping for the best for these shows, certainly I’m sure both will be renewed.

  6. I’m kinda hyped for this, as I loved Steins;Gate.

The Steins;Gate 0 anime should be out next year I believe, this is just a preview for the visual novel the anime will be based from. From what I can understand, the Okabe in this timeline is the same one who sent a video D-Mail to himself in the Season 1 finale. I’m genuinely surprised that no one has bothered to do anything with Steins;Gate as far as live action goes, it’s quite a smart little series.

  7. I run a Yahoo group called “I Love Stargate,” recently changed from “I Love SGU.” I post information about the cast and crew’s various projects. You receive the posts via e-mail. If you would like to join, go to: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/I_Love_STARGATE/info and asked to be admitted. I started it to give the fans a place to go who loved SGU, but were catching too much abuse on the other Stargate sites from the people who hated SGU.

  8. By now, Blindspot already got the thumbs up for next season. Congrats to Martin Gero on that. And the first episode of Arrow was terrific and I am looking forward to seeing BamBam’s directing episode. Thanks for all these tours. I know I’m about a month behind but I’m trying to catch up.
