I’m thinking we may need a second pilot!

Meanwhile on the home front….oof. Don’t ask. We’re two weeks away from heading to Montreal for two weeks and still have to figure out what’s going on as we cycle through a bevy of experts. Akemi is seriously considering moving to a rental. I love our place. We’re south facing so get plenty of sun. We’re right across from a dog park. Our neighbors are lovely, and the neighborhood is very walkable. Where would be better than there? Japan?

I’m kinda sad we didn’t succeed in getting an event happening in Montreal for tomorrow. But there have been quite a few Canadian Stargate fans who filled out the RSVP form.

Is Akemi that convinced the apartment has put a curse on you?

We will be in Montreal at the same time. Only for four days but we’re already betting it will be longer if we get our usual luck with return flight cancellations in August. In the past three years we’ve had unplanned holiday extensions due to forest fires, plane mechanical trouble, and a strike by cabin crew. Dare I imagine what could possibly go wrong this year?

It seems wild to me that they can’t figure out what’s going on with the water. It’s not exactly rocket science. Though I suppose really tracking it down may take a fair bit of “disassembly” which they might be trying to avoid. Anyway, it sucks because I’m sure it’s a constant state of upheaval and uncertainty. Is this type of repair covered as part of your condo fees? (Hopefully!)

It’s been BG all the way for me. So you’re still having the water (and oil?) problems ooo gawd. Not the dishwasher after all then. Under floor water pipes? Not that I’m a plumber though. Hope you get to the root of the problem ASAP xxx

Decamping to a furnished short term rental in your own building keeps you close enough to check on repair progress while having a calm oasis away from repair chaos.
My apartment repairs have ranged from fast and efficient to completely clueless folks who made things way worse.

A short term rental might a great idea when they start the repairs. You’re looking at a team of workman coming in and out. They will probably be nice guys but they will be noisy. The dust will be considerable. Your kitchen will be off limits for cooking. In short, Akemi is very wise.

I hope the Montreal visit goes well and please say Hi to your mom from all of us. 👋🏻
