Some nice covers here, but the one that caught my eye was the Spider-Man cover by Nimit Malavia. Why? Well, back in the 60s when my sister and I were wee lasses, walking to school, we found a wrinkled, wet page from a magazine, I think it was the National Enquirer. (Just looked it up – yup – that rag dropped its focus on gore and violence in 1967, so it was that magazine. I was probably in kindergarten or 1st grade, since those were the two years my sister and I attended the same school. )
Anyhoo…the page contained an article about an elderly person who died, and was eaten by their 5 white Persian cats. There were pictures, too. A box of Ritz Crackers was in one picture…I remember that vividly. That really stuck with me, and I guess the above cover triggered a memory. For years we would joke about our own cats, saying stuff like “Beware the white Persians!”. Just silly stuff, the inside joke that only we understood.
And then my grandma got two white Persian cats…
Our jokes got even worse after that. 😛 It may account for my twisted sense of humor. But no worries, the cats didn’t eat my grandma, or anyone else, that we know of… 🙂
