  1. Ok Joe, here’s an art question. If the comics industry can afford cover art (I know how contracted in artists work and get paid) how come the Movie and TV industry has abandoned graphic artists to design posters? I sometimes base my movie watching decisions on whether the thumbnail based on the movie poster has actually been drawn or painted by an actual artist. I can tell the difference between one of those Photoshop collages with a filter applied and an hand drawn or digitally drawn image. To me it says something about the producers of the movie if they invest in art to promote their work. It seems that these days it’s easier (I’m not going to say lazy) to crop a still from the movie and overlay text than employ someone with experience who can sum up the core experience of the movie by drawing something that is an expression of the movie and might not be an actual scene from the film. It seems that the comic books still corner the market on these artistic takes to invite you to read Inside.
