This weekend, we celebrated Akemi’s birthday in the traditional way with a couples massage, sushi, and the annual purchasing of the sunglasses to replace the lost sunglasses I purchased the previous year.

Also on Facebook – although I rare do any actual updating outside of madly sharing lost dog/cat/parrot and “animal in need” posts:

  1. My mom never made food like that but it looks delicious! Thanks for sharing your day @Akemi. 😃🎂🎈

  2. I never understand the significance of macarons. I’ve tried macaroons, never really liked them, but never tried a macaron, yet in so many shows these days, macarons always pop up out of nowhere. Must be an invasion….

  3. Speaking of Sipos, I thought she did quite well in Ascension. Her character played the politics of the “ship” quite well. It was a shame that the mini series didn’t get a series order, but given how expensive it was, and the mostly okay ratings it’s understandable. Just that ending, oh god..

It did track fairly well though, when you look at the 0.6/0.4/0.5 for the three night event at a time just before Christmas, you can see that there was genuine interest there for a ship in “space” show.

  4. @The cereal soft serve gave me a plethora of new ideas for some summer ice cream flavors.

Love this, and those food pictures look artistic Joe. Also I caught up with Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade works recently and honestly, the Fate series can be pretty harsh/sad. Especially Episode 15 the latest ep, it makes a certain powerful character(avoiding spoilers) so unlikable for what he did.

  5. This looks like a great birthday celebration! I hope Akemi enjoyed it too!

@ Greg Long – Haha! We’re all strays here. 😉 Welcome to the fold.

  6. The food looks great and it looks like Akemi had a wonderful birthday. And deservedly so!!

I’m here in the airport in Phoenix (way early) waiting to head home. I don’t actually arrive home until tomorrow at noon, so lots if traveling hours left. It wasn’t the best vacation ever, do doubt about it! The upside is I did survive, which I suppose is the best you can hope of any outing! 🙂

  7. @Ponytail: I’m using an iPad and Wordpres, apparently supports it’s emoticons/emojis. I’ll try some others: 🌻🌸🌷🍁🇺🇸🇨🇦

  8. A belated Happy Birthday Akemi! Looks like you had a fabulous, and much deserved, celebration!

I’m so happy to hear that Jelly is doing ok. She’s a spunky little gal.

And I love the idea of a fandom name. There are already some great suggestions.

    Good luck this week!

  9. Happy Birthday again to Akemi!!!

Day 1 of your 14 days of birthday.
Food looks fabulous….it is 2 am for me right now and the best I can find in the fridge is Diet Coke and microwaveable Edamame….
Does not measure up to all your goodies

    HOPE you enjoyed everything.
    YUM…

  10. Looks like Akemi had a wonderful birthday! The sushi looked delicious and now I want some! 😋
Ah, cereal icecream another one now I would like to try someday.
    Have a great week!

  11. It does look like it was a wonderful birthday day! Keep on celebrating!
Were the macarons for you or Akemi? Lawren is a nice guy. yummy. My birthday is Wednesday, (29 again) and I will continue the celebration. Haha. party on!!

  12. Ponytail: Those last two symbols were supposed to be flags. I guess WordPress doesn’t support all the emojis. 🙁

gforce: Glad you survived! Safe travels!

I was up most of the night with my kitty. Reglan (anti-vomit meds) makes him needy. 🙁

  13. The macarons and the ice cream look good. LOL. I’d never be able to visit you guys unless I picked the restaurant. I am glad Akemi had a wonderful birthday.
