Today, I spent time on three different units.  Woke up at 6:00 a.m., took the loooong drive to Hamilton for 8:30 a.m. call on not one but TWO second unit shoots (Director Ron Murphy on those owing barn scenes from episode #106, and Director Bruce McDonald on those final few farm house scenes for episode #108). It was uncomfortably cold when I arrived but, after an hour or so, the weather warmed up.  Then it rained, and it got cold again.  I took the looooong drive back to Etobicoke and arrived in time for main unit lunch, then spent the rest of the late afternoon and evening on set, first watching Director T.W. Peacocke shoot scenes for episode #108, then watching Director John Stead shoot outstanding (in both senses of the word) scenes for episode #105.  What a day!  And the high point was a double dose of actress Jodelle Ferland who is, quite frankly, perfection.

A little something from the Art Department and Transport to help set the mood. Anyone remember Damnation Alley?

Director Bruce McDonald is a rock star!

I tried to shoo this homeless man off set – until I realized he was VFX Supervisor Lawren Bancroft-Wilson.

Like I said, those tents sure came in handy.

Tomorrow, another visual piece of the android puzzle.  What’ll it be, belt or hair?

  1. Some great photos you got there. Can’t wait to see this.

    Oh…and I’m guessing HAIR. 😉

  2. All that rain, it’s like being back in Vanc! Looks like a lot of fun was had by all.

We had a pretty warm day today for a change – we even lost some of the snow. There’s still LOTS left though. I kind of hope it doesn’t melt TOO fast and cause a lot of flooding.

  3. Yes some of us are old enough to remember damnation Alley..loving these little snippets of the show, and can’t wait to see the next #android reveal

  4. DAMNATION ALLEY — A *CLASSIC*!!

And, I’ve actually SEEN the LANDMASTER – about 13 years ago… There’s a Guy in North [?] Hollywood who has it in an open garage that you can see it when you drive by on the 405… At least I think it was the 405. I wasn’t driving. But it was in that Hollywood / North Hollywood / Burbank-ish area. — Anyone HERE who lives out THERE has probably seen it too.

    whatever. IT was COOL!
    😀

  5. This is my first time posting on your blog and I would just like to say how much I appreciate you letting the fans in on the process of making the show. It makes me feel apart of the journey and it makes me feel more invested in the show. So thank you so much for including us. From what I’ve read so far the Android seems like it will be a really interesting character. So I’m looking forward to finding out more about her. I’d be interested in seeing what the Android’s belt looks like.

  6. LOL that trailer… you should have made up a story about how it didn’t look like much but was the best food service truck anywhere. 🙂

  7. Love Damnation Alley! Good times.

LOL. If you call those things tents, you surely do not camp much. Those are pop-ups or EZ-ups. Critical distinction, because a good tent holds up in windy conditions, while those crumple or become wind-propelled windshield smashers.

  8. Wow, gorgeous scenery, y’all are blessed to be surrounded by fresh air and a beautiful landscape all the time. Today I was considering skipping my Vit D supplement until I realized I could not remember the last time I’d seen the sun. Or trees. Or plants–they’re called plants right?

Lawren is looking tuff and ready for the elements, better prepared than me. See that mud? I would have slipped and fallen within an hour, I inherited a rare Stooge gene and stork legs that causes hilarious slip and falls on wet surfaces.

  9. The fans here are asking for hair pics of the android. Do they realize you could show just one strand of her hair?

Bruce McDonald is a hippy! Is he old enough to be one? Hmmmm.

@ Vixx – Welcome! I like your name. You’ve come to the right place. Joe spoils us rotten.

  10. In those scenes above, did Jodelle run away or did someone steal her? And they got to go get her back.

  11. That trailer-thingy. Looks EXACTLY like my old office, only it was pink (I have since moved my workspace into the house). You remember the stories I’ve told here about the office: about snakes in the filing cabinets, mice nesting in the tool box, paper wasps hatching in the walls and emerging through the light fixtures to fly around overhead, skunks and possums and raccoons fighting for territory underneath…ahhhh! How I miss that place!

    NOT!

    🙂

    das

  12. That trailer blends in remarkably well with the trees. From first glance it almost looks wooden oddly enough.

  13. @Ponytail I guessed it was Erica Luttrell because her birthday was that day, she had connection to Lost Girl and is Rachel’s sister. I don’t know Ruby Rose’s work. But I do have a pair of flannel PJs that look like her shirt.

  14. @ PBMom – Wow, that was a great guess! Impressive! I didn’t know Rachel had an acting younger sister.
