Pictured above: my growing To Do list.
It’s always great having a fellow foodie on set. Even better if that fellow foodie is also an accomplished cook just brimming with awesome recipes and culinary secrets. Such is the case with the indomnitable Joe Strazzeri – bon vivant, culinary composer, and, oh yeah!, A Camera Dolly Grip on Dark Matter. A super guy, great at what he does, and a real pleasure to work with.
And as if waking up at 4 a.m. and working twelve hour days isn’t enough, Joe keeps fit by hauling sandbags around set!
Last week, Joe surprised me with a jar of his home made chili oil. I didn’t get a chance to try it right away – but Akemi did. The next day, while I was at work, she sent me the following text:
And moments later:
I think that if this whole Dolly Grip thing doesn’t pan out, Joe has a promising career in the luxury food industry.
Totally did not read that as ‘dog sit’. 😛
das
Thanks for the laughs tonight!
Welcome Joe! Now, what about this chili oil recipe? And, what is chili oil? If Akemi loves it, it must be very tasty. Now I’m hungry……
I’m pondering whether your list is actually prioritized in any way. If so, I suppose Ivon can somewhat breathe a sigh of relief. Although the part about him being in Toronto has come to pass, so…
Speaking of whom, I hope you bought that poor guy a birthday cake! (It was his birthday on the weekend, no?)
Hey Joe S.! Nice to see you!
Just wondering how many of the restaurants listed you’ve tried and if you agree with the list:

Joe has a job I would love! (except for the 12 hour days part)(except for the sandbag part)(except for the 4am part) He should do a guest spot on Akemi’s blog making oil. They would be charming together.
You should definitely find a part for Natalie Cooper! She would be a natural. Maybe she could take Jodelle’s place when she is sick or on vacation.
I don’t think you should steal anybody’s liver that is a member of your Whisky club. Are you crazy?!
that kind of list usually includes something like buy milk, mail credit card payments or something.
Hopefully when you talk to The Walking Dead people you’ll tell them to get a move on because the last few episodes have been slower than the proverbial grass growing.
My prediction? We’re going to see the Governor come back. We never really did see him die . . .
Hey Joe!
Yeah, what das said. It’s very easy with those two words together.
I’m with Akemi. Will Joe share the recipe with the world? Or just us?
So Ivon still hasn’t caught wind of the plan to sell his liver? Good deal. The cash changes hands this afternoon. Make sure to keep the “product” on ice.
Talk to TWD? You want Carol’s cookie recipe?
If you get the recipe for the chili oil, will you be sharing?
When you say “walking dead people”, I do hope you’re referring to the show. Otherwise… creepy!
Speaking of that show, Rick is starting to creep me out.
HO HO, HA HA, HE HE – We have a subtle HINT – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOdYG2vM1wo&feature=youtu.be&a
But it’s ONLY a hint to those of us who read your blog and are awaiting the arrival of a certain guest star announcement. 😉 I am pleased to learn that my prediction that David Hewlett’s house renovations will keep him out of acting for awhile was WRONG. Sometimes, it’s good to be wrong.
@Line Noise
@We’re going to see the Governor come back
He’s dead, long dead. Never ever going to come back in anything but flashbacks or trippy visions such as the one Tyreese experienced.
Also the Alexandria Safe Zone is quite a distance away from where the Prison/Woodbury was. Not too far from Washington either.
Also looking at the ratings for today, I’m quite shocked by all the series lows, I haven’t seen anything quite like it in a long time. Seven shows by all accounts should be rating higher but experienced an odd drop. Agents of Shield didn’t do that great either, just goes to say that DC comic shows make better viewing lol.
How are you guys using the chili oil? I’m thinking it might make yummy scones, with cornmeal and a bit of basil with served with honey for a spicy-sweet combo. I bet it makes great dip. Yeah if Joe S. is selling then I’m buying.
How can I get a signed copy of the March 7th “Joe Cool” print?
Oh, by the way, I got one of these today… 🙂

I love it so far!
@Gforce NICE car!
I’ll pass on the chili oil, but hello Joe!
I think Cooper is “Robert Cooper?” Right?
Just 8 things on the to-do list? Jeff had 14 things on his to-do list since September. Only 3 have been crossed off. I had 30 things on the to-do list since September which I only have 4 to do, but the 4 are massive projects like taxes, writing a Book of Patrick so in case we die, someone understands his nonverbal behavior, his likes, his dislikes, etc., creating a emergency call list should something happen to Jeff and I at the same time so people can care for Patrick until family can get down here, and #4 is call the electrician, but I’m waiting on Jeff to help me make a list of all the things we need him to get done and then go buy new wall outlets for every outlet in our house and I kinda of need his help for that because some requiring crawling or bending which I am not allowed to do yet. My minor knee surgery has turned into quite the problem.
And now!! Yes now!! I can add left frozen shoulder to that list. And left trigger fingers. Getting old sucks.
Quite the list number 5 though is the most important

Cheers Chev
PS Akemi drank oil?
