Whereas most adults my age are either dropping their kids off at school or picking them up from school or buying them clothes and toys, or attending their various extracurricular activities, I’m dropping my dogs off at doggy daycare or picking them up from doggy daycare or purchasing them leashes and toys, or attending various pooch-related functions.  Like this past weekend, for instance, when we attended back to back dog-themed event, the first for French Bulldogs, the second for Pugs.

Jelly and Bubba crashed the former and Lulu the latter.  After they got home, they slept for two days straight.

Great turnout for the first event – about 30 Frenchies in all.  Lulu was really working the crowd.

Lulu captured the attention of this amorous fella…

There’s always one accommodating one in the bunch.

Scrappy scrappy.

Jelly did a little socializing.  Bubba, on the other hand, was a total wallflower.  A skittish, growly wallflower.

Kickin’ back.

Meet ‘n greet.

Following the French Bulldog get-together, we headed over to the beach for a far more restrained pug to-do.

Bummed.  Where are all the other pugs at?

Jelly checks out the older guy.

Lulu gets in on some of the pug action…

They grow up so fast.  And, before you know it, they’re off to college.

  1. Damn it Joe! You need to put a flag or something on your dogs. I cant tell which ones are yours with all those dopplegangers around!!

  2. I have a three year old jack Russell and he always has a blast at the dog park but I am finding it harder and harder to take for fear of health concerns I mean he’s current on all his vaccinations but some people have no Morales the bring there dirty in groomed dogs with turd balls hanging off there fur and let there dog go around humping all the other dogs and get pissed when you try to keep your dog away from there’s any ways looks like you guys had a grand time Joe happy times.

  3. Cute pooches. You ever hear anything on those two seniors you were looking to adopt?

  4. Seems I have the same bow chicka wow wow effect on boy dogs as Lulu. 😛

Also, I lol’d when right in the middle of the scrappy pups meanders Megaphone Mutt. 😆

Great pics and vids, always love the puppies!

    It’s a pile of cute!

Huh. Is that what you’re calling it now? That Riley really has you snowed, doesn’t she? 😉

    das

  6. @Das: But she’s so cuuuuute….:) Actually, NO ACCIDENTS IN THE HOUSE TODAY, so far! She’s coming when she’s called, sitting when she’s asked to, shaking hands and high-fiving all over the place. Still tormenting dogs and cats, though!

  7. That is so sweet! It’s probably the area I live in because we see different breeds here. BUT If they decided to have a dog meet here, they would have to plan very carefully. Can you imagine a Pitbull, Chow, or Rottweiler meet? The organizers would have to provide….. hmmm, let’s see: At least two catch poles, a tranq gun, an EMT, and a Vet tech. I would ask for one of those pressure water hoses like the fire department has too. If a water hose can get a tranquilized bear out of a tree, then it might stop two dogs from fighting. http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/energy-environment/when-bear-refused-to-come-down-from-central-arkansas-tree-authorities-turned-to-bouncy-houses/2012/05/01/gIQAxwQAvT_story.html

Or maybe a dachshund meet? Some of those little guys have a Doberman personality packed into their short legged body. Sorry, but I read about your great outings and my mind just went off in another direction. It’s an ADD day 😉 .

Jelly is a lucky girl. I’m glad she is feeling so frisky!

Deni: Good luck with Riley’s new food and Elway’s new meds! Yes, I definitely hate seeing my pets get old. I’ve been through the “life” process to the end so many times. I have to keep in my mind that we are giving them a good life, while they are here. Or….. I wouldn’t be able to bare losing them and starting the process over with another kitten/puppy. You know what I mean? I’ve known a few people that couldn’t get another dog/cat after they lost their best friend. EVER. Everyone is different. I try and focus on the next one I can help and that gets me through. Don’t mean to be maudlin.

So Mr. M.: Have you been able to complete the adoption process? Did you plan your Seattle trip to pick up the older gents?

  8. PBmom: sending bigs “Hugs” to you. Sounds like you are having a hard time. Wish I could help.

  9. I know 3 little puppies that sure are glad their daddy decided to take some time off and work from home for awhile…

  10. Not sure the significants of Lulu’s attraction, but in visiting my neighbor in the apartment below mine, his dog had an unannounced attractions to my leg.
@dasndanger, I brought my girlfriend over from Thailand and visited our local remarkable zoo. The Tiger had a distinct desire for Thai food.

  11. The Busy World of Richard Scarry is on Netflix Streaming now. Checks rolling in yet?

  12. @das I think those parents put the kid in the zebra hoodie on purpose. Who brings a kid in a zebra outfit to the ZOO? I don’t care if they are enclosed areas. I think they wanted to get on American’s Stupidest Videos.

Love puppy days. And how is it that I seemed to miss these blogs again? Oh yeah, that’s right, I had my own animal to tame — Patrick (now, now, don’t be offended sensitive people). Seems he’s wanted some 2 to 3-1/2 hour bedtime standoffs. And by standoff I mean full-on tantrums complete with bleeding. What did this awesome mom do to stand her ground — gave in to the pharmaceuticals. Thank you Benadryl. Doesn’t seem the melatonin is working. This is night 2 trying it. I do have some 5-HTP.

Speaking of supplements, Joe, I forgot to tell you I have a new one I heard of for migraines (and how is your mom doing with those)? Butterbur! 75 mg twice per day and you can go as high as 100 mg twice a day.
