Well, I completed all of two pages on Whispers today, finally hitting that all-important 10 page mark but, more importantly, establishing the other team: Captain Alicia Vega, Lieutenant Anne Teldy, Sergeant Dusty Wells, and Dr. Alison (with one L) Porter. Carson will be in for a treat – when he’s not fighting for his life. Come tomorrow, I’ll probably rewrite the whole thing anyway but, hey, it’s a start. A slow, laborious start.

A final of Alan McCullough’s Daedalus Variations came out today and we shifted focus to Alan’s second – extreme Shep-whumpage – script, co-storied by Robert C. Cooper. With the writers’ strike hopefully over, Carl will finally be delivering his masterpiece which we’ll be fast-tracking into the #5 slot.

Jewel and hubby Matt swung by the production offices today. Jewel was in for a fitting while Matt was on the lot shooting another show. We talked horror movies, Watchmen, and, of course, what we have in store for Keller in season 5. Like Rachel, she was excited about some of the planned developments – but understandably a anxious about episode #2, The Seed, especially since I told her she’d have to get in for 4:00 a.m. every morning so that prosthetics could get an early jump on the body cast process which would take about 3-4 hours. “The trick is not to breathe too much or let the latex touch your skin,”I advised, “as it’s not only toxic but highly corrosive. Anyway, relax and have fun with it.” She wasn’t sure whether I was kidding or not.

Speaking of which – the prosthetics meeting with Todd Master has been moved to tomorrow morning. For Whispers, I’d like something elegantly simple yet shockingly terrifying. I can’t wait to see what Todd and the gang come up with.

No mailbag today as the next scene came to me while I was driving home tonight and I’d like to get it down before I forget. But, to tide you over, here’s that snipped scene from Trio. A little chat between Carter and Keller as they are knotting up that rope:

Carter: So…you seeing anyone?

Keller: What?

Carter: Around the base, you seeing anyone?

Keller: I dunno…I had a moment with – with this…guy. He’s not exactly easy to read so…I guess the short answer is “no”. You?

Carter: Well, I’m the boss, so I can’t really…

Keller: Right Anyone back home?

Carter: Uhm…

Keller: Un-huh, I thought so. Give it up.

Carter: Well, it’s complicated.

Keller: Show me a relationship that isn’t.

Carter: He’s in Washington…I’m here.

Keller: Ouch. Long distance relationship.

Carter: He’s going to retire soon, so maybe –

Keller: Really! Retire? So…an older man, huh?

Carter: Not that much older.

Keller: Washington, older man…is he like a Senator or something? Someone famous? Would I know him?

Carter: Probably not.

  1. OH MY GOD, JOE, THE S/J SCENE!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀

    *gets dizzy. faints. wakes up*

    YEEEESSSS!! 😀

    sally 😀

  2. Well that explains the Ronan thing! Thanks. And you just gave a ton of shippers (of the S/J variety) and a bunch of hopeful whumpers a great night!

    Keep writing! wams352

(now waves at LT. Teldy! KEWL!)

  3. That scene would have gotten a lot of people going on the forums if you had left it in….

  4. I think you should have kept the short deleted conversation in. It might have kept people from freaking out about the drink thing ‘is it a date? What is it? What’s going on? How dare she go out with Rodney, she’s going out with Ronon! Humph!’

  5. Sounds like you guys have lots of great stuff in store for fans next season! I going to have to stop reading spoilers or my head might explode from all the excitement. Prosthetics for a cast member has me mulling over the millions of fun possibilities that it could entail. Glad to hear Carl will be back at work soon *fingers crossed* (to imply I’m hoping, not that I’m lying).

  6. Thanks for sharing the scene. Too bad it wasn’t in.

That first paragraph…well, I just don’t know what to make of that. I like the idea of a secondary scene, and a mention of Carson always gets my interest. And is Anne Teldy gonna be a character that sticks around for a little while before getting offed?

Oh, and prosthetics for Keller sounds interesting. Wait, I know. That’s gonna be the episode where it’s revealed that Keller has really all along been Ellia in disguise. She obviously worked with Michael, he gave her what the good guys couldn’t and humanified her, and he sent her to spy on them. Yep, I figured it would be something like that. Nice work on getting us to like her before the big reveal. I’m sure it’ll come as much more of a shock that way. Plus, Ronon’ll be all angsty that he “almost kissed” a wraith. Oh, you guys are good.

  7. Joe…Joe…you’re breaking my heart!!! Do you know…if you’d left that scene in, Trio would have been…PERFECT! Not that it wasn’t near perfect…but …*giant shippy sigh*.Oh well. I’ll take it as quasi-canon…at least it was filmed and intended to be there. Thanks for sharing that with us. And I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I know it’s a lot to ask, but maybe, please, could we get more of the same in S5 before we lose Sam for good?

  8. Let me be the first to say: thank heaven the episode was running long so we didn’t have to have that scene! (I do like Keller’s part, though: “He’s not exactly easy to read so…I guess the short answer is ‘no’.”)

  9. That deleted scene is great Joe! I don’t remember if you said this was filmed or not? If it was, any chance of getting it on the DVD?!

  10. I soooo would have loved to see that S/J scene!!! I can’t believe you guys cut it!

Shep-whump huh? What is with all the Shep-Whump? Poor guy never catches a break….what is Joe’s take on this whummping?

  11. A shame the Keller/Carter conversation was cut out of the final product. It’s a nice payoff to all the Carter/O’Neill fans. And just because Sam is committed doesnt mean McKay can’t keep idolizing her, or attempting to win her affections. Nice teasers on the progress of the writing. May the Muse continue to inspire and drive you…

  12. Oh, Joe, you *tease*.

Whumpage is … physical as opposed to emotional, yes? John needs a day at the spa, it’s been a tough year 🙂

  13. Oh, man, that scene would have been nice!
Also, I’m gonna keep bugging you, until you respond. 😛 Any plans for a big ground battle(similar to Heroes 2) anytime soon?

  14. OMG!!!!
    Joe…..Joe…..Joe!
How could you let them cut that scene???
After 10 LONG years we really need to hear that on screen.

    Becky

  15. Thanks for sharing that scene Joe! Any chance we’ll see something similar next year?

Oh, and I loved Trio, even without it. 🙂

  16. I’m really glad you guys cut that from “Trio”. Really glad. Just… glad. The thought of Sam with Woolsey just squicks me. :^D

  17. On a scale of 1-10 how likely is it that we will see either Ford or Kolya before series end(season 11/12)??

  18. AAAAAAAAAAaaahhhhhh!!!! Oh my god!! thank you so much for the script that was deleted from TRIO!!!! Mon coeur bat tellement vite… j’en reviens pas!!C’est plate que la scene a été coupé! J’aurais vraiment aimé voir la reaction de Carter quand elle dit:

    Carter: Well, it’s complicated.
    and when she said:

Carter: He’s going to retire soon, so maybe –

(all i can say is…: ) There is hope…!!! yyyyeeeaaahhh!!!

  19. I’m a bit of an AU/time travel stories junky. So am I going to have my fix after Last Man?

  20. Thank you so much for giving us this little deleted scene! I’m sorry that it had to go, not because I’m a S/J shipper, but because I think it really would have explained the Ronon/Keller thing more and kept some people from overreacting. But Jack is going to retire? I’ll believe it when I see it.

And my mind is running with all the possibilities you’ve given us with these clues! Prosthetics, ship stories, other teams. Though since so much of the talk around Anne Teldy’s character has been ‘red shirt” oriented, I already have a bad feeling about this team…

Thanks again for all the info and good luck script writing!

  21. I do hope that this will be one of the deleted scenes that you put on the dvd. PLEASE?!

Love the bit about Keller and Ronon, too. And I don’t know why so many people are calling the Keller/Rodney drink a date. They went as friends. He told her he would buy her a keg if it worked. He got off easy.

  22. Thanks for sharing that little tidbit with us, Joe…(when I think about how excited people got over that “not exactly” line – shippers would have imploded if this had aired!)

  23. If I were to make a guess about the prosthetics… I believe the line in Vengeance was…

“TEYLA: It is amazing how quickly he has been able to incorporate our science into his.”

Maybe Michael is making humans into his ‘super’-wraith army? Or, rather, that’s what happens to Keller.

    *shrug*

  24. I think the part of the scene when Keller informs us that the relationship with Ronon went nowhere should have still made it in the episode. It would have probably shut alot of fans up with their questioning on where that relationship was going.

Now, since that hopefully wonderful and genius scene came to you while you were driving home, my questions were not answered. Here they are again:

What ever happened to “Mitchell, when the time comes, cut the green one.” from Ripple Effect?

    AND

How does an episode, like the case was with Midway, come back to life after it is deemed undoable?

  25. Joe,

Do you think with the hopeful resolution of the writer’s strike that the current TV season will still end in May or do you think it will run into the summer to give fans a full season order? How do you think it will affect the start of the next TV season in the fall?

    Cheers!

  26. Hay Joe,
Do you think it may be possible, that we could get a featurete on the entire process of The Creation Of An Episode in the season 5 DVD box set? From the first discussions of an episode, to the first draft, the first script, and final copy. Maybe even show how the cast may slightly change the lines while shooting. I know we have seen some aspects of this process in previous DVD’s but I think it would be pretty interesting to actually see the entire process from start to finish. Kevin

  27. Oh, Joe, Joe, Joe…

THAT part of the Carter/Keller scene was cut…and yet we had to have those pesky kids return in Trio.

    Boo on the pesky kids.

    Hurrah on the Carter/Keller scene.

It will be on the season four dvds deleted scenes right?

    Please?

(Remember, I’m old and on supplemental oxygen. It’s these little things that help me make it through another fun filled day.)

Thanks, Joe, for the updates on season five.

    Woo-hoo!

    🙂

(Oh, and congratulations again for being nominated for a VES Award. A shame we lost to “A Fight for Life.” Especially as it was a BBC mini-series…

    Morjana

  28. Extreme Shep whumpage! Carson fighting for his life! Corrosive latex! You kill me!

Can you hint at any interesting events scheduled for Zelenka in Season 5?

  29. Thank you for posting the missing scene from Trio! I hope it will be on the DVD. How about a scene at the beginning of SGA season 5 that has both Sam and Jack retiring so they can be together? Or Jack retires and Sam takes over as head of the SGC!

  30. Allie said: Thank you so much for giving us this little deleted scene! I’m sorry that it had to go, not because I’m a S/J shipper, but because I think it really would have explained the Ronon/Keller thing more and kept some people from overreacting.

    I couldn’t agree more!

And, Ann Teldy – A Looey!!! So glad she’s not going to be some peon … But c’mon, Joe – couldn’t you have come up with of another ‘A’ name instead of ‘Dusty’ for Sgt. Wells? You were on a definite roll, there … 😀

  31. Oops – I’m Sorry Anne Teldy – I do know you spell your name with an ‘e’ on the end …

What I would give for a preview or edit feature on this blog!!!

  32. Hey Joe,

I was reading over on Gateworld the episode guide for The Kindred, and something in the press release from SciFi caught my attention: “Further study reveals that it is not a contagion but a human-engineered protein designed to kill a feeding Wraith.”

Might we be seeing the return of the Hoffans and their Steve-killing inoculation from Poisoning the Well in S1?

  33. Just had to say..

Shep whumpage?????? Wooohoooooo! I hope it’s real whumpage with real blood and lots of peril and lots of team comfort… Don’t let him suffer on his own again, please..

Hmm, sounds kind of sadistic, doesn’t it? 😀

  34. Aaaaaand Joe’s blog is invaded by S/J shippers! Man the battlestations! This is a Siege situation people! Ready the railguns and fireworks and awesome choral music!

Well, that would certainly tide them over for a while; although, I can definitely see why it was cut now; it’s actually pretty long. I’d thought it’d be only a small mention, an off-hand remark, but not an entire scene like that.

    It’s pretty cute. Heh.

Gotta say Joe, my anticipation for Season 5 just doubled thanks to this blog entry. Beckett fighting for his life? Daedalus Variations, perhaps alluding to that line in the poem about “myriad permutations are viewed from space”? Extreme Shep Whump (ok, I don’t actually go for Whump, but seeing the Whumpers squee is always fun)? Carl’s masterpiece? Full-body prosthetics for Jewel?! My God, these sure are tentalizing hints!

Speaking of full-body prosthetics, ahhh, poor Ms. Staite. Don’t worry Jewel, I know how you feel. Joe treated me the same way with regards to my flocking. But, sometimes, you’ll just have to close your eyes and start cuddling with it. Or, in your case, go through with the prosthetication that will surely entertain us.

So, looks like Captain Vega’s team is going to be down one member before the episode’s end eh? That’s certain a heavy spoiler! Haha, congrats Anne; now you know which episode your namesake will die (gruesomely) in!

Ok, a question, if you don’t mind:

Is “Daedalus Variations” actually the name of Alan’s episode? If so, it’s definitely a strange (but cool) one.

  35. Oh, and speaking of Anne, who reminded me of an Atlantis (sort of) dream I had a few days ago (copy and pasted from my blog):

It was confirmed by the Executive Producers of Stargate Atlantis that Tom Cruise (!!) was going to star in the show’s 5th season! Already, it’s nuts. Then, I suddenly become this omniscient observer, watching my “protagonist”(who was a balding white guy) find a way to stop Tom Cruise from starring. But how will he do it?

Why, with Time Travel, of course! Yes, somehow, his cellphone (it was a flip phone!) allowed him to travel back in time! And so, he uses it to travel back in time and space to Tom Cruise’s house to convince him to not take the job. His house, by the way, was full of kids. Kinda like Michael Jackson’s house, I would imagine. I guess I get my celebrity nutjobs confused in dreams. Anyway, my main character travels back in time, and pleads with Cruise to not join. Just at that moment though, a kid runs by to a sink that was nearby, and turns on the faucet. Why is this important? Because, apparently, running water makes my guy jump through time! Suddenly, everything changes as he travels to the future…and here things get fuzzy for a while. Another bit of running water, and he jumps again, this time to the far future, it seems. The house is now empty, and suddenly there is a horror movie feel to it. My guy looks around and walks out of the room, while I, now no longer omniscient but physically there, waits for him to come back.

Suddenly, an answer machine besides me starts working (oh, and the room has now completely changed in appearance), and a women’s voice comes out of it. She says something akin to “Tom, I know your house is old, but…” and I plug my ears. It seemed that she was going on about issues, when she mentions something about all those cobwebs in their house. Then, suddenly, my guy runs screaming back into the room covered in spider webs and spiders! He doesn’t notice me, and runs to a computer on the other side of the room, where he says, “There’s no one who knows more about sticky than Tom Cruise!” and starts tapping away at the keyboard. At the same time, while the women was still going on and on on the answer machine, she sudden screams “Tom! No, get away!” It seemed like she was being attacked by Tom Cruise, and it’s at this point that I felt a need to run away (gee, I wonder why) because it seemed that Cruise was just outside the building, and was about to come in!

I ran out of the room while my guy was distracted by the computer and the spiders, and ran through the hallways. Suddenly, I hear in the background a crazed Tom Cruise shouting “Jesus! I know you’re here, Jesus! I know you’re here!” And he was coming closer! I knew there was no way out other than a window to jump out of, so I ran into a random room, opened the curtains, and clawed at the screen covering the windows. It was a tense moment as Cruise came ever closer, but I was able to make a hole in the screen, leap through, and jump! Then I woke up.

Ok, so it’s not THAT related to Atlantis…but still, Tom Cruise?! What were you thinking, Joe?!

  36. THANK YOU JOE!!! You have given Sam/Jack shippers all over the world a WONDERFUL night and a lot of hope for future resolution! I hope eventually we will see them ride off into the sunset together, but this shows you’re thinking of us! THANK YOU!

  37. For the record I hate the Ronon & Keller ship because it is so forced and really there is no chemistry there and I am someone who likes to ship. I could see Ronon with Teyla or Weir but not Keller at all. I love Ronon he one of the reasons I am still watching please don’t ruin him for me I think I would rather have him in no ship at all than with Keller you know it’s funny Jason has great scenes beats I think you guys call them with everyone else but her. I am still very bummed about the whole Weir situation. Do you think you or someone else in TPTB will reapproach Torri in the future or is the bridge burned.

  38. Joe, you’ve just made my week with that tiny little bit of Sam/Jack shippage! Unless, of course, Sam meant Paul Davis? *wicked grin*

The little tidbits of information that you keep dropping otherwise are driving me to distraction. I just know “Last Man” is going to kill me and season 5 sounds like it is going to be as amazing as most of season 4 has been and even more angst filled. I have to admit that my mind went to the same place Shawna’s did regarding Keller and I wonder what evil twists and turns you guys have up your sleeves, hmm?

  39. OH MY GOSH!!! I Love that cut scene. That hints at so much. I really enjoyed reading it. I’m a deleted scenes/bonus features/ behind the scenes junkie. i eat this stuff up. its always the first stuff i go to on a dvd. Thanks for sharing it with us.

  40. From the IGN review of Trio:

“For some reason it just doesn’t feel like Sam belongs. It feels like she is bigger than Atlantis. Every time she is on screen, I feel a distant relationship with everyone she is acting with. That same family feeling that made me fall head over heels for SG-1 is no longer there with Sam and Atlantis. They need Weir back, but she isn’t coming, and they need Sam gone, which is happening. Season five is going to be rough; they need to do some serious locking up.

Next week… I am predicting it will be a half-perfect episode, as Teal’c comes to Atlantis. We have Sam and Teal’c, all we need is Jack and Daniel (Ha! Jack Daniels), change the name of Stargate: Atlantis to Stargate: SG-1 and the show will be perfect again!”

I have to say that I agree with this. I’m a big Carter fan, and even I have to admit that she just doesn’t fit on Atlantis. The reviewer is right; everyone keeps expecting Carter to do something in all of these episodes and she just doesn’t. Even the Atlantis cast and characters seem to stand around waiting for the Samantha Carter to do her thing. I think, like Daniel or Teal’c or O’neill would be, Carter is just too big of a character to be a regular on Atlantis. Stargate fans (and seemingly the production staff) have such a huge conception of how much those four characters have done that the breadth of those ten years of stories just suck the life out of scenes on Atlantis. There’s an expectation associated with the original four characters that is hard for Atlantis to live up to. Seasons nine and ten fell to a similar fate. Carter, Teal’c, Danny, and Jack can only exist in films now; the story of those characters has outgrown the tv format, and when you guys try to include them in episodes, it becomes all about them. I have a feeling that Midway is going to be a similar thing. Teal’c’s there. I don’t think there’s really anything else that matters to most fans.

  41. I’m with the other shippers 🙂 Thanks so much for posting that scene. For those of us interested in the Sam/Jack relationship development, it’s great to really get a nice reference to our favorite two, even if it did get cut in the final episode. We appreciate it…thanks a million!

  42. Delightful little scene. I’m sorry you couldn’t keep it in, but I could pretty well imagine it. I hope in S5 we see a little more tease between Ronon and Keller.

  43. Hey Joe,
so there will actually be another team. and Jewel will have to wear prosthetics in ‘The Seed’? wow s5 sounds even more interesting now

ah why did you have to cut that scene? poor S/J shippers. I know you get this a lot but is tehre a chance for sucha scene in s5? I think those guys really deserve a happy resolution (both S/J and the shippers)

last but not least I’ll just repeat my questions from yesterday: is there any chance for a ground battle in s5 and if not wouldn’t it be an interesting idea for s6 (yes I’m optimistic)? also do you have the live +sd numbers for ‘Trio’? thanks 😀

  44. Nice episode Friday, and thanks for the deleted scene! Too bad it didn’t make it to the episode. Great to hear Carl will be back soon too. Does that mean he’ll be at the butt end of some elaborate pranks too? *wink* Lieutenant Teldy – now that name sounds familiar… Congrats again, Anne.
By the way, when’s discussion start on Fast Forward 1?
    ~Rich

  45. Joe wrote:

Joe you are going to kill off most of the afore mention team? Too bad this is one few times that we have an all female team, if ever. Presuming Dusty is a girl. If this is a real team, why was it formed?

Didn’t expect to see Anne Teldy’s demise until around the middle of the season.

  46. THANK YOU, THANK YOU,THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! *squees and does a happy dance*

I loved Trio as it was, but that scene just would have made my day!! Since it was originally in the script, I’m now considering it canon, which means the ship has finally set sail!!!! At least, that is what it means to all of us S/J shippers. Do you realize that we were holding a vigil in our thread as we waited for this? And that we have 63 people viewing and commenting on the thread about this at the moment? We never have that much thread action!!! Thanks sooooo much for throwing us this bone!!!

    Kimberly

  47. So I heard iTunes kind of messed up again and had Midway for sale earlier today. Can you guys say “Enough is enough” and have the show pulled from iTunes, or is that all up to someone else? I hope the show continues to be sold on iTunes. I like buying the episodes and watching them a few times after they have initially aired without having to wait for the DVDs (which I also, later, buy). Don’t get me wrong – I always make sure to watch the show live on Fridays, too.

  48. GAHHHH!!!! THAT SCENE NEEDS TO BE AUTOMATICALLY ADDED BACK INTO ‘TRIO’!! *faints*

Question: A friend of mine is now addicted to Stargate (went through the first three seasons of SG-1 in a week). He has a friend that plays french horn (being a horn player himself) and said his friend was recently involved in recording for Stargate: Continuum!
Can you confirm that either/both ‘Ark of Truth’ and ‘Continuum’ will be using full orchestra for the music????

  49. Thank you for that scene! That makes the S/J shippers happy campers.

After a quick search I found something you said on your Oct. 4th blog:

Smiley face06 writes: “Too bad about Carter’s discussion on O’Neill is being cut.”

Answer: Well, like I said, it will be part of a future deleted scenes special feature. And, if we get a fifth season pick-up, we’ll find a way to express the same sentiment in a finished episode.

I know Amanda will probably only be in two episodes, but that’s what you said. Any chances of that still happening?

  50. oops, another question: Is ‘Daedalus Variations’ an official episode title for Season 5?

  51. Couple things I came to the conclusion of…

    1. The Ancients came back to earth 10,000 years ago, some of us have the ancients genes still within us…perhaps jesus had the gene…not that Im against religon but its jsut a theory.Agree???

    2. How many seasons were you hoping Sg-1 would have if not been cancelled?

    3. Is there any chance that a new soundtrack will come out…I was watching season 9 of Sg-1 and listening to the Ori music…I would like to get that on CD if possible?!?!?

  52. Also, I agree with Kevin (Baal_527), I would love to see a complete ‘making of’ featurette in the season 5 DVD set.

  53. Thank you for posting the deleted scene! We really appreciate it big time! Yay!

  54. So, chance of this deleted scene being on the DVDs when they come out? Heck, chances of *any* deleted scenes being on the DVDs? (Though I’m kinda torn. I like the idea of Sam/Jack … but I also think it would be kinda cool to see a relationship between Sam and Teal’c, especially given that Chris Judge is far more likely to be available to guest on Atlantis. Though with Carter not being a regular next year, I don’t suppose it matters as you probably won’t have much time to develop a private life for the character.)

  55. What was with Sheppard’s sucker/lollipop in trio? Was that actually scripted or was Joe F unwilling to let go of it? Lemme guess you were just teasing us Shep fans…evil man….. ^_~

  56. Hey Joe!

Thank you so much for putting this huge smile on my face! Like quite a few others I would love to have that deleted scene back on the S4 DVD.

Hoping for a positive end to the WGA strike and Carl’s swift return.

These little teasers about prosthetics for Jewel makes my thoughts swim with the number of possibilities for them. It makes you go Hmmm?

Question: Do you get to attend any other cons besides locally and Comic Con?

  57. That was such a delightful scene! How wonderful if it had been acted out on screen. I’ve been a Sam/Jack shipper forever, so I’ll take any little bit I can get.

  58. Hey Joe any chance of seeing the deleted scene? Was it filmed? Thanks so very much for posting it. I really appreciate all the time you take posting this blog everyday and giving us fans something to look forward to as well. My brain is hurting trying to figure out why Keller would need prosthetics but I am definitely looking forward to season five any idea of if the new season will start in the fall or summer? Your behind the scenes videos are so cool. Keep up the good writing and good work.

  59. That’s a nice scene, and I hope to see it on the DVDs. I can see, though, why you’d think the plot might have more precedence over the gossip – no matter how fun it might be.

It’s hard to tell with you what’s a joke, but I’m guessing at least some of the names for the team might be. Sergeant Dusty Wells – really? (I almost wrote surely not, but then pictured the reply from Airplane!)

  60. Thanks so much for posting that scene! You are the awesomest in the whole wide world! Really hope that scene makes it into the DVD cut scenes special!

  61. Hi Joe!

Not even an S/J shipper and that deleted scene had me all fangirl-ish! 🙂

Thanks for the info on S5 new characters – including Lt. Anne Teldy! (Go Anne!)

Y’know, you’re probably gonna kill a few Shep whumpers (not me – I just thunk) with news of extreme Shep whumpage in S5. As Tom Petty said, “The waiting is the hardest part!”

Gonna end this with my opinion of Trio: odd.

    RUSH on, eh?

    eddy

  62. More female characters, prosthetics, Mr. Binder coming back soon, Carson, and to top it off SHEP WHUMPAGE!!!! (I’m a sucker for whumpage.) That’s all I needed to read to make me ecstatically happy for weeks to come. I thought that posting tonight couldn’t get any better. But then you, Mr. Mallozzi included the scene that hit the cutting room floor. WOW! I’m sorry to see that scene go; it would have been perfect in the ep. I really enjoyed Trio; please give Mr. Gero a pat on the back for me for a job well done. Regarding Trio, Carter takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Every time she fell off the tower or what have you I could feel her pain, great acting.

Questions: Will you be taking pictures at the Fuel fan dinners for those of us who can’t go because we have to study for finals? And hopefully I will be heading to Vancouver/Seattle the last week of April, (depends on finals) can you suggest some good mid cost places to eat? We are planning on spending most of our money on shopping but want good food too.:D Any good places for shopping (outlets)?

Thanks Joe! I hope the script comes together easily for you in the coming days.

“[snip]Next week… I am predicting it will be a half-perfect episode, as Teal’c comes to Atlantis. We have Sam and Teal’c, all we need is Jack and Daniel (Ha! Jack Daniels), change the name of Stargate: Atlantis to Stargate: SG-1 and the show will be perfect again!””

If he/she thinks the SG-1 characters are greater, that’s great for him/her. I couldn’t disagree more, though. Sorry, but the SG-1 characters never appealed to me. In my opinion, the Atlantis characters are far more appealing and interesting. If someone wants to see Sam, Teal’c, Jack and Daniel, they have 10 seasons of SG-1 and some movies.

Some fans can’t let SG-1 go. It had 10 seasons. More than enough. It’s time to let it go, or at least stop trying to get SG-1 characters into Atlantis. Atlantis has been a great show from season 1 to date, and it certainly doesn’t need characters from other show to be “perfect”.

  64. Hi Joe!

Thanks so very much from the bottom of my Sam/Jack ‘shipper heart for posting that deleted scene from “Trio”! Very much appreciated! I’m so incredibly happy with what I’ve read but also quite sad that it was cut. I can only very sincerely hope that dialogue close to this will feature in a Season 5 episode featuring Sam!

    I have some questions:

    1) With Jewel Staite and Robert Picardo now regular cast, where will their name places be respectively in the Season 5 opening title sequence?

    2) In “The X-Files'” 8th and 9th seasons, cast members David Duchovny and Mitch Pileggi had their names only appear in the title sequence of the episodes they were appearing in. Could the same be done with Amanda’s name in the title sequence for “Stargate: Atlantis'” 5th season and if not then why not?

    3) I believe I read in one of your previous Blog entries that you own “Doctor Who” Series 1 and 2 on DVD and you’re planning to get Series 3. Have you ever seen any of the program from the original 26-season run and the ’96 TV movie?

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your next Blog entry. Take care.

    – Alan

  65. Hi Joe, thanks for the scene. I loved that it wasn’t all about Sam&Jack, it explained a bit what happened with Ronon/Keller. Are you really planing to retire Jack? I thought that BW wanted a 3rd Jack-heavy movie? Please confirm or deny this: In season 5 Jack retires, Landry takes his place and Sam is needed back home to command the SGC…

  66. Thank you very much for the snippet of the script. I really appreciated reading it.

  67. Just watched Trio, and I have a question for you, how about that!

When Sam and Rodney were talking about the added weight in the room, why would they have to factor in the dirt? The pillars were supporting the room and the room’s roof was supporting the dirt. It seems to me that, given that the dirt was already present and being supported by the roof, the pillars were also supporting the weight of the dirt and it is irrelevant whether the dirt is still on the roof or on the floor. Or am I just overthinking this and the real issue is not the weight of the dirt per se but the impact of the dirt (and Rodney), followed by Carter and Keller, hitting the floor in a limited area and destabilizing the support structure?

Congratulations to Lt. Teldy on your appointment to a Gate team! I shall mourn your untimely passing when the time comes, but I shall thrill to the memorable manner in which it occurs!

  68. Hey…

Very disappointed to hear about Torri’s non-participation… so is that the end of negotiations with her or will the issue be pursued, sort of a last attempt….. just for the fans?

And thanks muchly for the Sam/Jack allusion, shame it didn’t make it…

  69. And this bit of dialogue, my dear Joe, is why I love you. So it didn’t make it to the episode. Meh. The point is someone on the writing staff cared enough to write it. And for that I am eternally grateful. *tackle squish hugs*

    *cough*

Um…sorry. I am still in high squee mode.

Is Dusty Wells also a woman? I think Captain Vega and Dr. Porter are safe, but is Sergeant Wells also getting eaten by space cows?

Lt. Teldy doesn’t sound like a space bimbo but it seems doubtful that Col. Sheppard will say “Anne!” the way he says “Rodney!” or that Rodney will include “Anne Teldy” in a rant. So, of my wish list, 1 out of 3.

I second this! This is really something I’d love to see.

  71. Daedalus Variations kind of sounds like the name of an orchestral piece…but maybe that’s just me.

This may also be just me, but I wonder if I cause you to not have a mailbag. It seems to happen whenever I comment lately. I apologize profusely if my ramblings cause you to turn off your computer. I suppose I can be a tad bit dull.

I’m really glad you guys cut that from “Trio”. Really glad. Just… glad. The thought of Sam with Woolsey just squicks me. :^D

Hahaha! That was funny. Good one.

Count me in the (seemingly) minority of people who are very glad that that scene hit the cutting room floor. Ugh. While I wouldn’t have minded the Keller/Ronon reference, I REALLY don’t like to think of Sam and Jack together. *shudder*

Hey, maybe you can make the Jack/Daniel fans happy next season when Daniel drops by Atlantis for a visit–he could mention his “relationship” with “that guy in Washington.” This scene would get cut, of course, but they’d be happy to hear you relay the cut scene via your blog.

And then you could make the whump fans happy by having Sam and Daniel get into a bitch fight over Jack. Another cut scene, of course.

Hey, I know!!! You could have Weir in every episode next season…just say all the her scenes happened to get cut! And then make up a random scene in each episode and relay it to us via your blog!

Everyone can be happy as clams with all the supposed scenes that almost made it into the episodes. 😉

    Ok, sorry. I’ll stop now.

  73. Oh, um, can I do a quick poll? (for the people commenting on the blog) (if this is approved, I’ll assume that’s a yes).

Which episode do you think is better, Fail Safe, season five or Show and Tell, season two? Thanks for participating in the poll. I’ll announce the results later (like tomorrow or the day after that).

  74. Well, that explains that squealing I heard today. You posted the deleted scene from Trio. I don’t ship, but watching people melt into a puddle of happy goo is great. I just hope the ringing in my ears stops soon. Heh.

I am intrigued by your teasers. I’d cock my eyebrow if I could. That’s how intrigued I am.

Aaaaaand Joe’s blog is invaded by S/J shippers! Man the battlestations! This is a Siege situation people! Ready the railguns and fireworks and awesome choral music!

Actually, the scenes out of the Siege with the battles look like the opening scenes on Disney movies (big castle, pretty fireworks). Every time my sister and I see it, one of us (normally me) always yells ‘The Wonderful World of Disney!’ Then the other one (normally my sister) always asks ‘where’s Tinkerbell?’

I’m out of here. I have classes from 8 am to 8 pm tomorrow (non-stop) and I’m sick (this is so not going to be fun). Then I have a test on Wednesday and a presentation the Wednesday after that, which is not cool, since my voice is gone currently and I really need to practice for the presentation (it’s for vocal techniques class). And on top of all that, I still have a cold! (you know, running nose, sore throat, cough, dizziness, et cetera, d’oh). And I’m a little worried about the test I had today. I think I did okay but who knows? And I probably won’t get the graded test back until next Wednesday! Oy!

  76. Ahahah! That scene would have be so funny.

    On to my question(s):
Where are the bathrooms on Atlantis?
Are they in the living quarters or are they public?
Will we ever see a bathroom on Stargate Atlantis?

  77. Whew, I hope Keller can now walk safely around Atlantis without Zelenka chasing after her (3-inch slingbacks in hand) and calling her a hussy (“But I forgive you because of your beautiful-smelling hair.” – I’m a major Zelenka fan, and I found that funny, not character-bashing. Interesting backstory there, hehe.) Or without you guys having to write a Butterfield Eight Liz Taylor-type monologue about how it feels to be “a woman who’s no better than she has to be.” *rolls eyes* – Thanks for typing up that bit of dialogue.

O’Neill needs to retire, leave Washington (where if the bureaucracy doesn’t kill you, the commute will), and join Sam wherever she’ll be for Sanctuary, so she and her “not that much older” S.O. can finally have that requited relationship. I may have missed the last half of SG-1 from being busy with new-house stuff, but just reading your blog comments has turned me into an S/J shipper. (And that smooch from the sort-of “Groundhog Day” episode [apologies for forgetting ep. titles] spoke volumes.)

Re: the “highly toxic and corrosive latex,” somehow it’s comforting to know that Jewel wasn’t sure if you were kidding. I sympathize. – And the line about “elegantly simple yet shockingly terrifying” prosthetics for Whispers has exponentially raised my anticipation. Ruling out a plot centered on experimental orthodontia, I’d guess we’re in for some pretty scary alien-mutation stuff. (By my admittedly wimpy standards. Give me good, clean spurting blood and evisceration any day.)

  78. ^_______________________^

    Thaaaaank-yooou.

I think that will go a long way towards placating people about Ronon/Keller, too. For me, it wasn’t that she would consider dating other people that was the prob so much as that there seemed to be set-up for Ronon/Keller in Doppelganger and Tabula Rasa, not just Quarantine, and it bugged me that the storyline had seemed to be dropped with no follow-up — that made it seem like a bit of a waste of story potential. She (and any other character) can date as many people as she wants, I just like me some follow-through! 😉 Hell, I’m bi-poly — you wanna introduce a threesome into the story, I’m all for it. 😉

So. Any chance of Rodney whumppage that results in some nice, heartfelt sympathy (especially from Shep *cough*)? You know, something like his psuedo-death scene in Tao? Onegai shimasu, with dark chocolate on top?

Thank-you for the promise of Shep whumppage. 🙂

For anyone wondering, I have no earthly idea where the column is — I turned it in a bit late Sunday night, yeah (thanks to my parent’s anniversary), but I would have expected it to be available by now. Hopefully by the time anyone reads this, the editor will have gotten it uploaded. (*Hopes said editor is okay …*)

  79. Any chance that you could get Weir back for maybe season 6 if she’s not going to do season 5? Or does she mean she doesn’t want to ever have anything to do with this show again?

  80. You know, as I’ve seen Stargate parallel the real world in the sense of time and whatnot, I wonder: isn’t there supposed to be an election on Earth sometime soon? Is a certain incumbent going to be re-elected? I think Hammond would be a pretty good running mate.

  81. You have no idea how much this means to all of us S/J shippers out there. Just in time for Valentine’s Day too!! Thank you thank you thank you!!! Will you be my Valentine?

Brought a shipper smile to my face. Thanks.

  85. Me wants Rodney whump. Shep whump is great, but please tell me there will also be some Rodney whump in season 5!!! Please!

  86. Joe, thanks so much for posting the Trio dialogue. I loved the episode as it aired, but this… this means so much to all of us. I’m now 100% confident that someday, something like this will appear on screen. You’re my Hero of the Week.

  87. Just started following your blog recently and love it. I thought Trio was great fun, and as a huge Sam fan, appreciated the posting of the “deleted scene.” I just want Sam to find some happiness, and if she’s finally gonna get the chance with Jack, fantastic. Also, have been missing Teyla lately, can’t wait to see how her story continues.

  88. Hello Joe! Been awhile… how goes it? I see you’re still teasing the Sam/Jack shippers (me included). Would’ve been wonderful if you had kept that in. Heh.

And I just read your previous entry too – at least you know your neighbours. I live in a townhouse complex… been here for almost a year and a half and I still don’t know my neighbours.

  89. The trick is not to breathe too much or let the latex touch your skin,”I advised, “as it’s not only toxic but highly corrosive. Anyway, relax and have fun with it.” She wasn’t sure whether I was kidding or not

    Oh Joe… you’re a mean bastard (Hey bastard is a friendly term in Australia)….But I love it…

I’m hoping they figure out how to use a Lantean kitchen next.

  91. That trio scene is awesome, would have been a great addition to the show. That and Rodney acting like a prevert abour that time in the episode would have made for a great comedy segment.

  92. Wow! It sure looks like good and fresh story ideas dried up very quickly after a pretty good first half of the season. After Spoils of War there hasn’t been even a mediorce story but I hope it will change with Midway this week. I think you guys spent too much money on BAMSR which wasn’t the best episode anyway because it was too rushed with too many lucky coincidences and questionable plot devices climaxing with a visually pleasing, but poorly strategized space battle sequence. I thought after a less than successful attempt at longer story-arcs early this season, it would be good to get back to stand-alone eps that Stargate has usually done well with in the past. Unfortunately, the last four stand alone eps have all been stinkers to me and now I don’t have confidence in any type of episode you guys do. I sure hope the last four eps of the season turn around what at one time was tied with season 1 as the best of SGA.

  93. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Joe! you’re the man I would have loved that scene and agree that the kid scene could have been axed instead.

You put a smile on my face and a spring to my step! Loved the episode and can’t wait for more.

    P.S.
Any chance of getting some more pics of the snow bunny? Or better yet more video?

  94. Ok, see, the problem with blog entries like this is that I read them at work. And then I have to explain to the non-gatefans (read: weirdos) why I just let out a loud squeal, accompianied by a full-body twitch.

On the bright side, I didn’t get a phone call at that exact moment. I work for 911. It would have been awkward.

[loud squeal of glee just as phone call comes in]
[calmly] “911, what is your emergency?”

  95. Joe,
Thanks for posting the deleted scene. Made me SQUEEE in delight.

Hoping to see Colonel Caldwell in the ‘Daedalus Variations’ episode. Have been missing him in S4.

    Thanks
    Janet.

  96. “A” names…boo.

    SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

You can unblock your ears now 😀
That’s about as coherant as I can be at the moment, nothing unusual there then. I swear Mr M your spideysense must be on overdrive, the whumping crew have sent you something, so you should get it when you go into production. 😛

Give AM a cuddle from us! Okay, time to block your ears again, i’m about to let rip, i’ll post tonight when i’m more coherant, because seriously i’m embarrassing myself at the moment. 😉

  101. I know you wanted this scene in – but I’m glad it was cut – better keep us guessing re Sam than let the cat out of the bag and have more fandom in fighting about who Jack dates. However I did watch the Rodney/Keller scene several times trying to figure out if it was a date – but maybe that was on purpose?

Any chance of extreme McKay whumping in the future?

  102. With the writers strike coming to an end, will progress be made on Brad’s 3rd SG1 movie pitch to mgm????

  103. FINALLY! Thanks for confirming that Sam and Hammond have a “thing” going. Just as I always suspected.

  104. Arggghhhhhh! That exchange… so perfect. My jaw literally dropped.

I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy. I’m home alone so I can’t even hug it out. I keep typing things and deleting them. Let’s just settle for:

    Heeeeeeeeeeee!

  105. Hey Joe. Just wanted to say thanks again for this blog.
I am that exhausted that I’m debating whether to just cut holes in my eyelids to see through as a balanced solution to my feelings of wanting to sleep and needing to stay awake. So when I switched on my lappie before another meeting and hit your blog it perked me up and gave me a laugh. 🙂

    And to Alipeep(s)
“Hang on. I appear to have dropped an s. Anyone seen it? Nobody move, just stay where you are… and watch where you put your feet…”

That made me laugh the hardest! Thanks!

  106. Joe:
Since the time isn’t as much of an issue with DVDs, can you restore the cut scene to Trio for the DVD release? It’s nice that it was even scripted and shot, but of course it isn’t “real” unless it’s in an episode. Unless you plan to shoot a similar scene for Season 5, as you mentioned when the news first came out that the scene was cut. Please don’t leave the S/J story arc hanging on some deleted lines or cut scenes DVD.
    Thanks
    Dan

  107. Great scene, would have loved to seen that on the episode.
    =D
You guys seem nice a busy with scripting so best of luck.

  108. Hey Joe. Can I just say how happy I am that you posted this scene? Thank you. One of my favorite ships was sunk these last months and the Ronon/Keller ship pulled me out of the funk. The added mega-bonus of a Sam/Jack reference is just too perfect for words.

I’m still firmly in the Ronon/Keller camp. After waiting for Sam/Jack for so long, I can be patient and hopful and ignore little flirtations with other characters. Everyone can have some fun, but having a beer does not a relationship make. 🙂

    Celsitude

  109. I’m curious as to what’s up with the huge promotion of/need of Cptn. Vega. Did you all get together and decide that Lorne supports Sheppard too much, so you needed a ‘newbie’ military to disagree with them? Or did you need a newbie perspective to help out Woolsly? Missing Sam and wanted a new female military? Just curious.

Because I’d have really loved to see more of Lorne and HIS team.

And please, don’t sideline our favorite #1 team! Really! Or I’m sure you’ll have pitchforks at the ready here if you do!

Oh, and I’ll go with the vote on ‘glad that scene was cut’ in Trio.

Though – Go Lt. Anne Teldy! And if I’d won, my god, you’d be really up a creek, because my last name would have been a ***** to work with.

  110. OH, not General Hammond, that is possibly the worse relationship revelation EVER! And he’s way! way! way! to old for her. No offense to the actor, but come on!

  111. Joe, you ol’ shipper…Thank you for filling my S/J shipper heart with joy. Them hooking up after season 8 was occasionally (well, sporadically) implied but never declared, until now! 6 years of rooting for Sam and Jack to get together has finally paid off in one little (sadly deleted…)scene. All is well with the world 🙂

  112. WOW! Joe, you are so amazing, keeping us shippers and spoilers looking toward the next season already. THANKS! Please, keep up the great work! Corrosive latex – priceless!

Does Baron Destructo work nights? I do and it seems like I need a change of venue. I am more than willing to start at the bottom, again…*sigh* Do you think I should forward a resume, or a list of wants and warrants?

  113. *reads the cut scene*

Thank you v. much for posting it – it would’ve been a fab addition to a great episode but I’m just glad to get to ‘see’ in any incarnation.

Eleven years of waiting… Squee! (I think it should concern me this is the longest relationship I’ve ever ‘had’. Hmmm.)

  114. Hi Joe,
Thanks so much for the deleted scene! You rock Joe!
When you guys plan the Stargate budget do you keep it the same every year or do things change from year to year? Will there be any more new aliens this season?
What do you watch on tele when your relaxing at home?

Going to the chocolate Bar for my birthday some friends are taking me out!
Wish me happy birthday on the 13th feb wont you Joe!

    Take care & happiness always!

  115. Thanks so much for the scene, what a shame it was cut…but looking forward to see it either as deleted extra on DVD or in a similar way in s5….so Carter leaves because Jack is finally retiring? 😉
And whether or not you comment this but I’m still convinced I saw a Jack pic in Sam’s office!

Also thanks for the teasers about s5….I’m all symphathy for Jewel…having lately to play a zombie for a friend’s movie and hating all the little procthetics I had to wear…poor woman!

a great WOHOOOOOO for Lt. Anne Teldy!!!!….I’ll have tissues and sparkling wine ready when your first appearance comes and your hopefully wonderful death with Shep and Rodney at your side to comfort you in your last moments!!!!

  116. Awww… Thanks Joe… “Alison (with one L)” Sorry about the whinging before LOL… I really appreciate that you listen to your fans.

P.S. Joe – thanks for kicking the GW Shep Whump thread into squeee overdrive with that one teeny, tiny sentence. 😀

  118. Hello,

  119. I have a nitpick about Trio. Why is it that when Carter and Keller questioned Mckay about which man he would prefer and he refused to answer, Keller teased him about being insecure about his masculinity? It seems to me his sexual orientation was being questioned, not his masculinity. Was the implication that heterosexuality is the same thing as masculinity? If so, that’s a pretty silly thing to believe.

  120. Aww, that was so cute, I wish it didn’t get cut. 🙁

SHEP-WHUMPAGE!!! WOOT! My favorite kind of episode!

You made me a happy camper today!

    Thanks!

  121. I hope it’s Jack who is referred to in that deleted scene. That would be the cherry on the sundae for the SG-1 series.

  122. Yet another Sam/Jack shipper crawling out of lurkerdom to say thanks for sharing that deleted conversation… Thank you, Joe!

  124. Well we can all see the shippers are ecstatic with your “proof” that the near retirement aged O’Neill and Carter are “together”, so are we done now? Because frankly the rest of us a bored silly with the whole topic.

  125. Oh, deleted scenes are ever the intriguing science. Kudos, though, as about half a million people above me have already given you. Excellent little snippet, that one.

Now the for the question. (I’m going to keep asking different things, and eventually, I’m going to get something answered. Because I… BELIEVE IN MYSELF. Yes.)

There wouldn’t happen to be any tantalizing little hints about the upcoming new Stargate show you could share with us at this point, would there be? I’m gravitating toward a negative, as you probably would have made mention if there were, but I figure, the more we keep at you for another piece of the puzzle, the better off our odds.

Ooh, ask ’em to write us a poem about it. Yeah!

  126. Thank you VERY VERY VERY VERY much X 1000 for “showing” us the cut scene from Trio.
Pleaaaaaase! Could you add it back for the dvd release? Please please, pretty please!!
And THANK YOU again for posting it 🙂

  127. Oh smack! Save Daniel Jackson people, read that snippet and weep!

What does it have to do with Daniel Jackson, saved or otherwise? People who want to believe that Carter and O’Neill are an item can now apparently sleep easy because Joe has told them what they want to hear, anyone else doesn’t need to even think about it. A perfect solution for everyone as far as I can see. It can still just as easily be seen as Carter having delusions about O’Neill “maybe” noticing her once he retires. If he ever does. If you even choose to believe the nameless man in Washington is O’Neill at all. Why does what other fans think concern you so much? Can you not be happy with what you have unless someone else is upset by it?

  128. I was wondering.. in Atlantis why do we not see or hear of any archaeologists on staff? In SG-1 there were at least a couple. Off the top of my head I can only think of the names of two: Daniel and Rothman. If there aren’t any on staff why? I ask this mainly because I am an archaeologist and am very curious.

  129. It’s a shame it had to be cut (though understandable), but thanks for sharing that scene. It’s very sweet.

Thank you for posting the missing scene from Trio! I hope it will be on the DVD. How about a scene at the beginning of SGA season 5 that has both Sam and Jack retiring so they can be together? Or Jack retires and Sam takes over as head of the SGC!

thanks from me also, for posting that scene. I like ljevans idea. So… any chance of this happening? Just some gently prodding on my part 🙂

  131. Thanks for posting that scene. I can work happy now. 😀

So… sounds like this new team is going to be the whipping group for some bad guys? Poor people…

  132. Bonjour Joseph,
    Morgia 🙂

  133. Anne Teldy, yay for your character! Lt Teldy has quite a nice ring to it, I must say. And fingers crossed if Teldy does die in “Whispers” that it’s a spectacular death 😉

Joe it amuses me how you sometimes talk about things we have no idea about as if we’re all clued in. In a way it’s a very sneaky way of giving some information while also teasing people. I’ll have to try it some time.

  134. Thank you for posting the S/J scene, Joe. I only hope that we get some form of canonical recognition of it before we lose Carter on Atlantis.

  135. Hey Joe –

Thanks for the deleted scene. I love it!

Just wondering if you guys will be planning any welcome back pranks for Carl? So glad he’ll be able to write for season 5!

  136. Hey Joe,

When you guys pick up a story element (e.g. the addictive aspect of getting your life back from a Wraith, in Travelers S4) to pay off much later (e.g. in Broken Ties S5), it is planned right from the start, or do you only develop these long arcs when you’re sitting around spinning ideas for the next season?

Also, please do tell whether the spoiler poem includes This Mortal Coil (the “replacements” line??) or only starts with BAMSR.

    Jean

  137. Thank you so much for posting the deleted scene. It’s a real shame that it wasn’t in the episode. It means alot though that you did post it. I know i’m not alone in saying that i still hope for and indeed want a positive resolution between Jack & Sam. 🙂 xxxx.

  138. TeeHeee … You said, “Prosthetics.”

Corrosive Latex, GOOD name for a band!

Dusty … OMG, I have several indelicate and wildly inappropriate stories about a female chief I was stationed with in the Navy, and yes, her name was Dusty. Not kidding! See, we’d get a new contingent of fresh young Marines every six to eight weeks or so … nevermind. Wildly, wildly inappropriate. Ah, the fun and hijinks perpetrated by an eighteen year old+ unaccompanied crew on an isolated duty station!

  139. Maybe I would have had a less Victorian reaction to Keller if this scene hadn’t ended up on the cutting room floor. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

    Take care.

  140. Oh, the pitter-patter of happy little fannish hearts! You should have saved it until Valentine’s Day. 🙂

So. Is Dusty male or female? Either way, nice to see so many women on a team.

    Again, with the fannish excitement!

You’re so good to us, Joe.

  141. Just copying this from yesterday – oh and thanks for the wonderful Trio scene from the cutting room floor!

Joe – i admire how you stay firm about not having to feel obligated to accept some of the crap and dreck so-called fans throw at you, and as you noted, there are respectable and dignified ways to be critical without being harsh or inappropriate as some choose to be. This lead to my question

When one of the writers is tasked/chosen to handle the edits for a certain episode, do you rely on each other for critique and suggestions for improvement? That is to say – do you really function as a team throughout all 20 episodes, even if the episodes are given specific writing credits to one or two individuals? If so – Do you feel this helps promote consistency in the show’s plotting from one episode to the next?

Another review of “TRIO” is here:

    http://www.syfyportal.com/news424709.html

It really slams Keller (for good reason). Any chance at all she doesn’t survive the next year?

man that review was awful. I think that people should get to know the Keller character before they bash her. she still has time to develop and i’m sure that the writers will do a great job of this. Just becasue she replaced Carson as the head doctor on Atlantis doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give her a chance.

It is jsut like when Mitchell joined SG-1. So what if his character “replaced” Jack. He brought a lot to the table and made a real name for himself.

  143. I was going to post that I would have loved to see that conversation between Kelly and Carter but I see 148 people already beat me to it. Man oh man if only you guys could get them together in one of the series my wife and I would be happy campers.

  144. Quickie question Joe,

Considering ALL the myriad support personnel, military and civilian that are connected with the “Gate” ops on Earth: How is it that it has been kept a secret from the greater public all this time?
On SG-1 there were 1 or 2 eps dealing with imminent disclosure and the military going to extremes to control it, (dis-information). Baal & clones running loose and whatnot.

Seems like merely signing a non-disclosure stmt is a bit lame.
Care to educate us as to how this is possible?

    Much thanks,
    Carol Z

  145. That deleted scene was really interesting! A shame that it was cut. 🙁 But thanks for posting it!

Any chance that there will also be some Rodney whump in season 5? Severe whump, not just a wee splinter about which he whines for hours, but something that actually keeps him from whining because it’s serious?
I love it when Rodney’s teammates care for him and show that they’re concerned, most of the time they just tease him mercilessly and he’s used as the comic relief far too often (since season 2). I’d love to see some serious stuff involving McKay for a change. And without him screwing up! He may be arrogant, but he’s also the smartest guy on Atlantis. Well, he used to be, lately one doesn’t really notice that anymore imho.

  146. Thanks for the deleted scene. I’m so glad to see Carter is still covering for Jack and Daniel’s secret relationship, even in another galaxy when she doesn’t really need to! That’s a true friend.

  147. Hi Joe,
Just wondering which episode will the transition be made from Carter to Woolsey? Can you perhaps give us a hint as to the reason that will be given for this change? And also, who has been given the challenge of writing the 100th episode? Will it be a standalone episode or will it be the first part of a two parter?
    Thanks,
    Elisa

Do you think it may be possible, that we could get a featurete on the entire process of The Creation Of An Episode in the season 5 DVD box set? From the first discussions of an episode, to the first draft, the first script, and final copy. Maybe even show how the cast may slightly change the lines while shooting. I know we have seen some aspects of this process in previous DVD’s but I think it would be pretty interesting to actually see the entire process from start to finish. Kevin

  149. I didn’t get a chance to watch Trio till Monday, but was online throughout the weekend, reading your blog and a few other fansites. I was so prepared to hate this episode, what with all the comments about juvenile, sexist behavior and the Radek=perv dis. In fact, I almost decided not to view it at all. I had a scathing review all written out in my head. But then I watched it – and it was great! Nothing really outrageous or offensive at all, and I enjoyed it very much. I liked Keller and Carter and thought Rodney was just being Rodney, still one of my favorites. So in the future I will not listen to the naysayers before I have a chance to judge for myself.

  150. Oh thank god that scene didn’t make it. While I would have liked to see the Keller/Ronon reference, the very thought of Jack and Sam as a couple always makes me go huh? There is no chemistry at all between them. They would be better of as just friends. But hey, maybe she isn’t talking about Jack? A girl can dream can’t she? To be honest when I was watching SG-1 I was hoping for Sam and Teal’c to get a freaking clue. That would have been very interesting.

  151. All this fuss about Sam and Jack, and a scene you probably had no intention of using in the first place, if you’re completely honest.

I found something interesting online. A comment from a viewer in relation to a review of Trio. It sums up the way I feel about Atlantis these days:

There was a time, in my opinion, when ‘Atlantis’ out-classed ‘SG-1’. Recently, however, it seems that the writers are just throwing out episodes so they can say that they are still on the air. This episode was just boring, much like the two or three before it. Soon to be closing out it’s 4th season, I still mildly enjoy the show, but I’ll be surprised if it sticks around beyond a 5th season

  152. OMG!! Thank you so much, you’ve made me an extremely happy Sam/Jack shipper!!
I hope one day a scene like that makes it onto the screen!!

    *hugs to death*
    🙂

  153. Thanks so much for posting the deleted scene! Although I would have preferred to have it in the ep, so that it’s actually canon, I’m happy that you (writers/producers) continue to think of the SJ ship.

As others have noted, you mentioned a while back that, since this scene was cut, you would try to re-insert something like it in s5. Since Sam will only be in 2 eps (so far) next season, will you be able to confirm her relationship with Jack in one of those eps? Even if it’s something brief, it would be nice to finally give a happy ending (confirmation) to what must be the longest story arc in TV history, or certainly in shipper history 😉

Also, I may be late in saying this, but I find the addition of Robert Picardo to the cast to be quite inspiring. It will be interesting to see the sparks fly 😉 I look forward to seeing how Woolsey will evolve to become an effective leader. And, I think RP is a wonderful actor.

  154. *waves*

Okay, I’m a bit more coherant now 😳 and have managed to read the whole of your blog, I noticed lots more stuff. Apparantly the squee this morning blew a few braincells, and boy do I need them. 😆

Jut wanted to say thank you as well to the SGT Dusty bit to. I know it wasn’t intentional, but my Dad was in the Air Force for a long time and his nickname was Dusty because of his surname, and he was a seargent, so i’ll be thinking of my Dad when I watch that, and it makes me just want to hug you even more.

So while i’m here, congrats to Anne for her namesake, Lieutant eh, very nice. 😀

And Caty don’t worry about being a sicko, just basque in the squeeeee, trust me you’re perfectly normal, well as normal as any whumper is? 😈

So, while i’m here and being exceptionally long winded again, I wanted to ask you if I got this right about the eps, order and the writers. I’ve got a memory like a goldfish, so, here goes 😀

    1. Search & Rescue – Marty G
    2. The Seed – 😕 I know nothing!
    3. Broken ties – Mr M and Mr M
    4. Whispers Mr M, not the other Mr M 😉
    5. is this the Daedy variations one?
    6. The one where it will cause the whumpers to go into a coma when they see Shep intubated and nekkid under the infirmary blanket? 😛

As you can see, i’ve maintained my squee quite well, so please pass on to Mr C that I think I’m ready now for the shirtless Shep eppy! Or, you could tip me over the edge by having that with the whumped bits. I know it’s a lot, but goodness me, what a way to go.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE what can I say, it slipped out.

    *huggles*

  155. forget ‘joesmom’, Keller was brilliant in this episode, all 3 of them were.

Anyway, is there any chance that we’ll ever find out anything more about the laser beam satellite in The Seige I? Thanks.

  158. Hey Bert,

Given all the nasty, downright evil things those folks have to say about Amanda, Joe, Brad and anyone else who strikes their fancy, I say fuck ’em. Pardon the french. If something as small as this ruins their day, then I see no problem in letting it be ruined. Karma is a bitch.

  159. Hey, Joe. Just another extremely grateful S/J shipper, here! Thanks again for the deleted scene! You filled our hearts with shippy delight! 😀

  160. Help! I would like to attend the April 1st dinner, but I can’t make a reservation for 7pm – there’s already so many. The lady I talked to said that there were a couple of large groups, already. One of them must be for the fan dinner.

  161. Personally I think that guy in Washington is Major Davis. I always thought they had a thing. You say he would never retire this early, well all I can say is that he just loves her so much that he would do anything to be with her. Distance can make the heart grow fonder and boy did he miss her.

Long live Major Davis and Sam Carter. MUWAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  162. Joe-
SUPER excited about the reference to Jack and Sam! 😀 And about your Carson comment! Fighting for his life!?!?! What is going to happen to our beloved doctor!?!?!

Oh and people’s comments about Carter and Hammond and also Carter and Woolsey…hilarous!

    🙂

  163. To chevron7,

SO JOE, here is my question: will we know what happen about “Cut the green one” in CONTINUUM?

    Translation
I asked the question many times too and an other blogger told me that Joe said “no” a long time ago in a blog. But, I think that Mr Malozzi gave an incomplete answer because he whrote that episode and he can not avoid it for that reason. Maybe it could be a big spoiler. I remain convinced to get the answer in The Ark of truth or more likely, and it is not impossible, in Continuum

  164. Hey Joe,so i was wondering if you know yet if there’s any Teyla Whump in S5,if so is it Physical or Emotional Whump or Both?

    Hey Joe,
I was reading over on Gateworld the episode guide for The Kindred, and something in the press release from SciFi caught my attention: “Further study reveals that it is not a contagion but a human-engineered protein designed to kill a feeding Wraith.”
Might we be seeing the return of the Hoffans and their Steve-killing inoculation from Poisoning the Well in S1?

I read this in the morning and it spoiled my whole day. Well – my own fault. Why am I so stupid to be so fond of the Bad Guys? I guess I have to live with that constant fear that my beloved Wraith either die of hunger, viruses or something else. It’s really not easy being a Wraithfan. 🙁

I think I’m going back to my FF and torture Sheppard a bit – although I fear that Michael is behind all that. He looked different in the last pictures I saw. Maybe he had modified his DNA so that only he can feed on the surviving humans….

  166. Hey Joe!

Wow, for just a small scene, those lines would’ve created a huge reaction, especially by those Jack/Sam shippers over at Gateworld. I think it’ll probably be starting discussions anyways. 😛

Atleast now, with that scene, it can answer the Ronon/Keller thing people have been curious about. Thanks for the scene and the notes about season 5! I am GREATLY looking forward to “Midway!” 🙂

    Thanks, as always!

  167. 1)Will past transgressions haunt the team in Season 5?

2)Will any two of the Atlantis expedition become more than just friends?

  168. Wow, ship and whump in one night.

Hey, that sound’s like a pop group. “The Atlantis theme by Ship and Whump.”

Okay, brain obviously fried. All your fault Joe.

  169. It was 8.30 and a very hot and sticky night. Dogs were suffering and as they were overdue for a bath anyway I washed them. They now nice and clean and damp and cool. Me hot and sticky still.

Frick it, should kill em off and make dog flavoured cat food. 😉

  170. That would’ve been one of the most awesome scenes in Jack/Sam history. Thanks for letting us in on the secret.

So since Carter’s heading back to Earth in Season 5 and not coming back often, can we please get some sort of on-screen Jack/Sam resolution? Please? ::begs::

  171. Anne Teldy said:

I’m hoping they figure out how to use a Lantean kitchen next.

A little birdie told me that kitchens feature prominently in the mid-season 5 cliffhanger. See, as I understand it, SGA-1 visits this planet with the Pegasus Galaxy’s version of velociraptors. The team explores a bit, but they quickly come to the conclusion that when you’ve seen the teeth and claws of one raptor in extreme close-up, you probably don’t want to see any more. They retreat, somewhat hastily, to the jumper. Unbeknownst to the team, whilst they are in the puddlejumper frantically dialing the gate to get back home to more hospitable climes, one of the raptors manages to grab hold of the jumper’s undercarriage just before they travel through the Stargate. Later that night, Rodney makes his way down to the kitchen to fix himself a late night snack only to find out that he’s the first course on the raptor-menu.

It’s all very exciting, but also hush-hush, so don’t tell anyone I told you about this!

  172. Hi Joe,

the “new” (taken during last year’s Dragon Con at the beginning of September) interview with Claudia Black is available at The SciFi World website and I’d love you to get Rob Cooper and/or Brad Wright to comment on the last part of it:

Question: If MGM would greenlight more SG-1 movies in the future would we see Vala?
Claudia Black: Oh, Vala can never die! Vala’s fantastic and she must be along for as many rides as people want her along. She’s just so easy to play. She’s, you know, it’s… I think that acting when at its best is being in the sandbox so… she’s the most playful character I’ve had the fortune to portray so… and just as I said yesterday on the panel, the Stargate panel, the buoyancy on set and the atmosphere that those actors create really helped in form my process and I really wouldn’t want to attempt comedy in a vacuum where other people aren’t as supportive or in as good a mood or taking it at the right level of seriousness, taking the people you’re working with seriously enough to be there for them but not taking yourself seriously enough that it becomes a, you know, that you have an attitude that pervades on the set that affects other people’s ability to enjoy themselves, so… yeah, I’d love, I don’t know if I would ever be asked back, who knows, but I think Vala is definitely a character that’s worth pursuing in the future.

The whole interview – http://www.thescifiworld.net/interviews/claudia_black_02.htm – and the audio of it is also included, so listen how ENTHUSIASTIC Claudia is when she’s talking about Vala and playing Vala.

  173. Carter: He’s in Washington…I’m here.

    Keller: Ouch. Long distance relationship.

Carter: He’s going to retire soon, so maybe –

Well this obviously refers to George W Bush and quite frankly I’m appalled. Mainly in her taste in men, but still, appalled. Couldn’t she have just stuck to knocking boots with the French president like everyone else?

And by Shep wumpage do you mean ‘my toenail just went black and fell off’ or ‘I have a feeding tube and steer my electric wheelchair with my one functioning finger’? Actually if you have all the characters beaten up on a semi-regular basis you’ll not only keep the fans who hate them just a little bit too much happy, but also the fans who love them just a little bit too much happy as well. There really is a thin line between love and hate, and apparently it’s coloured black and blue.

Not emotionally whummped b/c she got that this season; I mean physically tortured etc…Sure she got some of that in Missing but nothing like what you guys do to Shep. Does it have anything to do with our society’s need to inherently protect our females? It is not just in this show but others as well. I would just like you take on the matter.

    Much love and luck,

    Nikki xxx

PS. To all the fans who think that the scene may elude to someone other than Jack – it doesn’t. Joe confirmed that it was Jack O’Neill a while back on his blog.

    Again, many thanks Joe. 🙂

  179. Could you tell us something about the ratings for Outcast? Better than / the same as /worse than Harmony?

And what about the ratings for Trio?

  180. If the power of the written word is ever in doubt all you have to do is look at 110 words of dialogue you wrote and posted yesterday and the reaction they received most of today’s 196 posts.

I think Sam is really talking about President Hayes.

He’s an older man over the hill…I mean on the hill and he must be due to retire.

By all that’s holy make it not be Jack O’Neill!

If you look back Teyla’s been whumped more then Sheppard. “Echoes”, “Sunday” “The Ark” just to name the stuff in season 3 alone. It got to the point where I wondered if they were picking on Teyla towards the end of the season.

Not to mention her constant battles with her Wraith DNA whe she has to confront queens and the angst of loosing her entire people this year.

The only real physical distress that Sheppard has ever received was in “38 Mins” during season 1 and “Conversion” in season 2. He was cured in “Common Ground” wihout any ill effects.

There really is a thin line between love and hate, and apparently it’s coloured black and blue.

And red 😉 Don’t forget the red 🙂

And a question: what’s the average amount of time you spend per day reading/answering a blog entry?

    Danke.

  186. Hay Joe,
Do you think it may be possible, that we could get a featurete on the entire process of The Creation Of An Episode in the season 5 DVD box set? From the first discussions of an episode, to the first draft, the first script, and final copy. Maybe even show how the cast may slightly change the lines while shooting. I know we have seen some aspects of this process in previous DVD’s but I think it would be pretty interesting to actually see the entire process from start to finish. Kevin

I agree. We all love the actors and the behind the scenes, but oddly enough apparently have a fascination with the great minds that actually CREATE the show.

  187. Celsitude Said:
I’m still firmly in the Ronon/Keller camp. After waiting for Sam/Jack for so long, I can be patient and hopful and ignore little flirtations with other characters. Everyone can have some fun, but having a beer does not a relationship make.

Sorry Celsitude but neither does an ‘almost kiss’.

Who says Keller can’t spend time with both men before deciding who she really likes or that she doesn’t like either?

Ronon (in my opinion) is attracted to her because she reminds him of his lost love from Sateda. Who knows if he’ll really like her when he gets to know her.

I don’t care if Rodney and Keller become good friends or start dating. Either way I think she’ll be good for him.

  188. Joe thanks for the dedication.
Surgery went well this morning. Pain is starting to fade somewhat. Translate: not hyperventilating and wanting to puke anymore, but still not up to ‘high-flying kick-boxing’ yet. That might take a few more days. Although I did manage to shuffle to the computer to read your blog and after those great hints I’m glad I did.

  189. Hi Joe !

Seems like you have awaken the huge S/J beast in all of us. I won’t be the exception.

So, first of all, thank you so much for the deleted scene, (would have been much better to see that on the show, but, apparently… *sobs*) anyway, Thank you very very much for the script version. Hope it will be in the deleted scenes on DVD.

I regret that it didn’t make it also for the Ronon/keller part, no big fans of that relationship (yet) but would have been nice for the continuation of the story.

    Anyway, stop complaining !

Thank you, and glad to see all the S/J are not dead hoping, but really still there 😀

Back on SG-1, were there other shippy moments between those two which didn’t make the cut as well ? If yes, could you elaborate a little.

I wanted to add something but I can’t remember !!

Ok, it’ll come back another day

    Bye bye !

A little birdie told me that kitchens feature prominently in the mid-season 5 cliffhanger. [SNIP] It’s all very exciting, but also hush-hush, so don’t tell anyone I told you about this!

Wow! I won’t tell but I just can’t wait to see that! 😉

    Anne Teldy

  191. Oh heck, everybody knows Keller is lusting after Zelenka. After all, she’s called his sniffing her hair creepy and thus, diverted everybody’s attention away from him so they’ll think, ‘eh, she doesn’t like him’ when in fact the doc and the Czech are actually having secret assignations in the ventilation ducts. *cough*

  192. Aw, man, more Shep-whumpage? Poor guy. I hope he’s getting Purple Hearts by the handful for what you guys put him through… 😀

(And let’s pretend I didn’t just refer to a fictional character as though he was alive, okay?)

  193. I can’t believe you cut that scene!!!!!!
    Who had this idea??
And, more importantly, why have any of you guys listened???
Jesus, that was supposed to be THE scene of Trio and you cut it off???
I’m really sorry for doing all these critics but…WHY YOU CUT IT OFF???

  194. Just had to make a comment about those wanting Teyla whumping – hey she is having a baby?!?! Unless they beam it out she is going to be whumped! 😉

Save the whumping for McKay, man does he ever whump goood!

Okay, maybe I have had too much coffee today…

  195. Despite the fact that I adore that S/J scene, I do understand why it (of all other potentials) didn’t make the cut. Alas! Good to know it will be a special feature, though.

Also, I echo Quilani’s question about S/J scenes cut from SG-1 — if you happen to remember any, it would be awesome to hear about them!

  196. To the person who said…

Oh smack! Save Daniel Jackson people, read that snippet and weep!

Clearly liking Daniel equals slash and oh what joy to make us weep. You gotta wonder…so much for respect for others in the fandom. This comment is precisely why I was glad the scene was cut.

  197. I am so glad it was clipped. Too often when women in the service get involved with a superior officer (which is against the regs) it is the woman who comes under fire the most for using her ‘wiles’ to get her pormotions or position. No matter if the officer ‘retired’ every review he had ever written for her would be under the microscope. Sam is too good of an officer to put herself in that position. She would probably never get another promotion as some of the ‘old boys club’ would assume she had slept her way to her current rank.

Thank you for caring about how the character of Sam Carter perceived.

  198. Just have to say how much I dislike it when my favourite character is shown to be so very dishonourable in breaking her oath to obey the A.F.’s rules and regulations as per A.F.I. 36-2909 on Unprofessional Relationships:

    +Unprofessional Relationships

    Detract from authority of superiors
Result in or reasonably create appearance of favoritism
    Misuse of office or position
Abandonment of organizational goals for personal interests.

    +General Guidelines

Certain kinds of personal relationships present high risk. Members must be sensitive to formation of professional relationships that may become unprofessional when facts or circumstances change.

    Avoid relationships that negatively affect
    morale,
    discipline,
    respect for authority
    unit cohesion

    +Dating and Close Friendships

Become matters of official concern when they adversely affect morale, discipline, unit cohesion, respect for authority, or mission accomplishment. **May apply even when members are not in same unit or chain of command.**

    +Responsibility to Maintain Professional Relationships

    All military members share responsibility
    Senior member bears primary responsibility

    +Command and Supervisory Responsibility

Commanders and supervisors have authority and responsibility to maintain good order, discipline and morale. May be held accountable for failing to act in appropriate cases.

+Actions in Response to Unprofessional Relationships

Action should normally be least severe necessary to terminate unprofessional aspects of relationship.
Full spectrum of administrative actions should be considered:

Counseling, reprimand, UIF, removal from position,
reassignment, demotion, delay of or removal from promotion list, adverse or referral comments in performance report, and separation

More serious cases may warrant nonjudicial punishment:

Trial by court-martial in aggravated cases
Instances of actual favoritism, partiality, or misuse of position may constitute independent violations of the UCMJ or JER

+Responses to Cases Involving Dating or Sexual Relationships

Sexual relationship is but one factor to be considered in determining response. It is impact or foreseeable consequences of conduct, not characterization of conduct, that determines seriousness

**Unprofessional relationship should not be excused simply because the parties marry or one leaves the service**

So thank goodness someone had the sense to cut that scene.

  199. Oooh… Is Sam going to hit her head and hallucinate again? Gotta love the Sam whumpers!

  200. Bravo for the deletion of the scene! But not for the reason/s you may think. *grin* First of all – by deleting it, ALL the fans of SG1 can continue to believe what they want with regards to any romantic entanglements our SG1 team may or may not have – and imagination is the key to successful television. The biggest mistake you and the other producers etc. could make would be to, in anyway, hint or imply how the love lives of Jack, Daniel, Sam and Teal’c could or will end.

This is a case of don’t show and don’t tell, sir. Let ALL of your audience have their fantasies – keep ALL of your audience happy, not just one group – of any kind.

Unfortunately, I don’t think you deleted that scene for that reason – although I’d love to give you and the other powers that be that kind of savvy – but alas, I’m betting you deleted it for time or because you didn’t want to ‘spill the beans’ too soon and are saving it up for later – either because answers are given in one of the movies or at some other point now that Amanda is leaving the franchise for Sanctuary (although I’m sure she’d return for another movie *grin*).

But here’s hoping you guys have wised up and it was deleted simply because to divulge too much ever – is not the way to keep everyone happy. Here’s hoping you’ve come to realize that we, as an audience, enjoy using our imaginations and hate it when that opportunity is taken from us.

We really are an intelligent bunch of fans.

    Sort of. *grin*

  201. Ok so I looked at that scene you cut from trio, and although it was excellent, I was a little dissapointed, in my mind I could have swore you were going to keep with the “would you rather” and had “richard dean anderson” or “MacGyver” as the possible response from Sam. Anyway still really good scene, liked Keller and Ronan, like Keller and Rodney better, either way I am happy.

  202. Hi Joe!

I must say im impressed by your work, i absolutelly love Stargate Atlantis and SG1! I´d really want to see Sam and Jack get together finally so it´s a pity the conversation got cut of. I think they belong together, they are soulmates joe. Please send my many reguards to Mr Anderson and Mrs Tapping if u met them. Many reguards from Sweden.

  203. Mr. Mallozzi;

I was wondering and hoping if season five would explore more of Sheppard’s unique gene. Teyla seems to have become powerful, but Sheppard has the strongest ancient gene and although it has come in to play a bit, there seems to be quite a bit of potential yet to tap. I think this part other than making him lit up things, fly spaceships and shoot drones, mini and otherwise would be really cool. Love that Teyla can control a Wraith queen but seemed a bit of a leap. Anyway, just would be neat to see Shep’s gene play a much larger role.

  204. I have to pipe in and say I sure hope that scene was taped and it’ll be in the DVD. if it wasn’t taped please please please go and tape it NOW and just not tell us. 😉

  205. Let me interrupt this conversation with an unpaid political comment. First to the J/S shippers, I certainly understand your excitement. If the PTB had legitimized by own preferance, I’d be happy as well. It’s nice to realize that those who do the writing are aware of it’s fan base, even if the dialogue is dropped.

What I want to say is how frustrated I am that in 2008 and we’re having the squick factor with the possible m/m pairing (pick your two favorite). The problem as I see it is the writers and producers, mostly male, are still writing out of their juvinile male fantasys. When listening to the commentary of the first season, I heard over and over about Amanda Tappings liquid blue pool of eyes. It never appeared to me, as a viewer that the writers were able to conceptualize a multi dimensional female. Amanda does have beautiful eyes but honestly there has to be more to a character than she’s pretty and smart.

Yet it also appears that the writers puled away from the wonderful dynamics of it’s two male leads. Whether you’re a slasher or not, the interaction between the characters of Jack and Daniel were just a joy to watch in the beginning. The ability for two individuals who are so different in their world views to create a bond of friendship and respect is one worth watching. What a waste then for the writers to lose that increible dynamic. It makes me wonder of those same juvenile fantasys were threatened by the imagination of others who might see that as a type of love. Are we really still afraid of love between two men? Does that fact that that love between two characters can be interpreted by some as one of romantic love still scare people? If the answer is yes, I find that sad.

This is not a vilification of those who find the Jack/Sam relationship attractive. But let’s keep room open for other possibilities. Lets move into the new century with a respect and openness to all the options; romantic, friendship, team, respect, love.

  206. Took a deleted S/J scene to get me over here and posting a comment. Thanks for sharing that. It took me quite a few seasons to get into the S/J undercurrent. But it developed nicely and now I just want some resolution. I feel like it’s something that was so wonderfully executed but then went nowhere. Like a really well-told story that never ends. Still, love SG and glad I discovered this blog.

  207. Yeah, clearly that scene should have been in and those annoying kids should have been blown up early on.

  208. Hi!

PLEASE! Do it on the DVD!
It would make all the Shipper happy and the inofficial plot will come to an end!

Thank you for this great szene!
All of my friedns were very happy when the read it.

Ps.: I hope Continuum will be soon in Austria. We are very exciting
