Today, we headed down to the corner of 29th and Boundary where I scored a half kilo of pure Greek Gold, a.k.a Hellenic Heat, a.k.a spit-roasted lamb. While everyone else is off celebrating Canada Day, Fondy and I were in Burnaby celebrating Greek Fest. Although the celebrations kicked off a couple of days ago, festivities will run through the rest of the week so there will be plenty of opportunity for return visits.
Unable to convince Fondy to splurge $165 on a whole lamb (“But we can split it!”), I went with the aforementioned half kilo of lamb with a Greek salad while Fondy had the lamb platter. The lamb was delicious, sweet and well-marbled. The Greek salad fulfilled its side plate duties. For dessert, Fondy had the loukoumas, deep-fried dough coated with honey and sprinkled with sesame seeds. I opted for something a tad sweeter, the coma-inducing baclava: layers of phyllo dough filled with chopped nuts and bathed in honey syrup.
Back in the car, stuffed, sated, and a little too relaxed, it took me a while to realize I’d been waylaid. Instead of heading home, I was whisked away to Surrey to check out a baby French Bulldog in need of a good home. Seriously. Between the orphans and the dogs, I’m padding a fairly convincing resume for Sainthood.
Mackenziesmomma writes: “Audiobooks yea or Nay?”
Answer: Nothing wrong with them, but I prefer the pleasure of reading.
Spiritedchihiro writes: “Although, i must correct you on one thing, Koala bears???”
Answer: As someone already pointed out, people are all over the “koala bear” mention but no one had a problem with the car ride to Argentina? Direct all criticism to Aloysius P. Hazzencockle.
Anonymous #1 writes: “Are you thinking about going??”
Answer: Was it as good as Pearl Harbor? But with angry robots?
Sistine_spy writes: “What is the public transportation like up in Vancouver and Victoria?”
Answer: From what I hear, there are buses in Vancouver. As for Victoria – haven’t a clue. Never been.
Jafacakes writes: “What is your daily average consumption of chocolate?”
Answer: I average about a half a bar a day.
Anonymous #2 writes: “When you film an episode , you sometimes say how you had to leave scenes out cause of time issues even though the scene was filmed. My question is what is done with that and why dont you guys ever insert some of that back into episodes on dvd release?”
Answer: There’s usually a good reason why certain scenes don’t make the cut. And, for the most part, we rarely lose whole scenes but parts of a given scene – a snip here, a cut there. The finished version is a lot tighter and, thus, preferable.

Skopadiggle writes: “Has anyone ever written a screen play for ‘Old Man’s War’?”
Answer: To the best of my knowledge, no one has. But if and when the movie rights get snapped up, I think author John Scalzi would be the perfect pick to write it.
Silver writes: “When you mentioned Richard Scarry in an earlier blog , I ran to check my toddler’s tapes. There wasn’t a writing credit listed. I did a web search & was quite impressed with your history in children’s televison. How do I know what episodes you contributed to?”
Answer: Hmmm. Off the top of my head, such favorites as: Patrick Pig Learns to Talk, Mario the Venetian Gondolier, Sneef in Russia, Sneef in India, Cave Pigs, and Huckle Cat Gets Put Down.

Answer: I read every comment I approve.
Cheeky Lil Devil writes: “I should advise you that Argentina and Nigeria are two different countries.”
Answer: Point taken. But while Nigeria was the scene of poor Ali’s militant kidnapping/shock/stroke, Argentina, the land of kangaroos, is what he now calls home.
Anonymous #4 writes: “Will you make an episode with ford in it?”
Answer: No plans to.
