I know, I know. How is this possible? Well, the truth is I don’t go see a lot of movies. And I don’t watch a lot of movies at home. I prefer reading, watching crime shows, and occasional doomscrolling. That said, I am curious about these four. Maybe not enough to actually take the time to check them out, but curious nevertheless.
District 9: Is this the one with the Die Antwoord duo, Ninja and Yolandi Visser? I’ve heard good things about the visuals but lesser good things about the story. Trivia: Director and co-writer Neil Blomkamp did work as part of Stargate’s visual effects team.
What do you think? Seen it? Should I?
E.T. the Extraterrestrial: Meh. Dated visuals aside, I’ve never been a fan of hokey storytelling so the prospect of doing a catch-up screening holds not much appeal despite it’s iconic status.

Wall-E: When this movie first came out, one of my fellow producers complained that it started off as hilarious critique of consumerism but then chickened out. Unlike most, I’m not wholly charmed by Pixar, so this is another one that holds little appeal.
What do you think? Seen it? Should I?
Interstellar: I’ve heard very divergent opinions on this one. Some say it’s a masterpiece while others – like my former writing partner – complain about its frustrating plot holes. I suspect that I would likely tend to wards the latter.

So what are some classic sci-fi movies YOU haven’t seen?

You haven’t seen E.T.!? Joe.
Wall-E was good, but not one of Pixar’s best I would say. I agree with Paul on Interstellar. A ponderous, overlong movie that should have had another couple of runs through the editing room.
District 9 was okay. Probably worth a casual watch.
I’ve seen
Skip ET and WALL-E (or just the first act)
Interstellar needs great speakers and sub and crank it!
District 9, thats Alien Nation meets Full Metal Jacket. Gotta watch it at least once.
I would say watch Wall-E and Interstellar.
When I saw Interstellar in the theater way back then, what really struck me most was how it actually considered humanity as worth saving. It was like the anti-Avatar, and that was a very welcome change at the time.
The Mission if you choose to accept it his to make it a Fiday or Saturday night Sci-fy Month watch off for all four movies , those are Bucket List recommanded movies for all! Side quest make a different planned meal you have never done , a different one for each and a different pop corn flavor you never tried and dessert flavor or type you never tried. Then you can tell us if the hype about them was worth it. For me , All great mobie to watch once and rewatch forwhat you missed the first time. Certaiinly nt a waste of time because those are very unique stories and ending and filmings. Good viewing and can,t wait for your perspective on them , good, bad , mid , they are not time wasted movies for sure.
YES YES YES & YES
Just take the time and enjoy. They are so different, but SciFi cannon. (Interstellar needs a few viewings, as it is intellectual as heck!)
Two for children, two for grown-ups. Take your pick.
Each has their own value, whether the spirit or soul, the story, the special effects.
You can watch to enjoy, or watch to learn a few aspects of their production.
E.T. sucks. I saw it as a kid and even then, resented its attempts to tug at my emotions with utter sap.
District 9 and Wall-E are both very worth watching. I’ve seen Wall-E several times and it continues to charm me. I don’t think it copped out of the anti-consumerism message in the slightest. That theme carries through even the end credit sequence.
