Today was my first in-person attendance of the new Stargate writers’ room as I finally got to meet, and spin ideas with, all of the talented writers I was zooming with last week. A fun, fine, productive day highlighted by donuts, a discussion of Stargate power requirements, and my first waymo ride. I was honestly a little leery about entrusting my life to a self-driving car but the inherent risks are ultimately outweighed by the fact that I don’t have to talk to anyone.

I’m compiling a list of East Asian films I’m going to start watching when I throw in the towel on this 2026 sci-fi reading marathon. Six books in and I liked one, thought another so-so, found another annoyingly obtuse, and DNF’d the rest.

Aah must’ve been great 🙂 So “long” after your travel to Los Angeles 😮 I’ll check out these Korean movies & what are in Disney+ library 🧐 Gonna stream at evenings via it’s Tv Appy. Some platforms to mention where i have forever monthly sub are: Prime Video, HBO Max, AppleTv+ & Skyshowtime 🙂 I rotate Disney+ few times a year. NetFlix i axed for good years ago.
How did it feel being back in the saddle again? Familiar?

I’m feeling stressed out and worried! However, I am looking forward to my cross-country train trip, now less that three weeks away!

I really hate the assumption that we are consuming our media with a second screen and therefore need to dumb down the content. If we refuse to bow to this pressure, maybe viewers will put down their phones, or have to make use of the rewind button so they can now pay attention. I love intelligent stories that make you think, critical viewing and being able to sit with a book, tv show, or film for a while and mull things over in my brain. It also encourages discourse with your peers, be it on subtext, meaning, socio- and political commentary, production, worldbuilding, and character portrayal: this is what builds fandom and community. And fandom and community translate to a larger and more loyal consumer base to ensure the profitability and longevity of a media property. Isn’t that ultimately what companies like Netflix want?

I’m travelling to Melbourne for work tomorrow. Then off to a BBQ on Saturday. I’m not used to so much socialising!

Honestly, you really don’t want to know how I’m doing, because I’m an American dealing with the absolute dumpster fire this country has become. I have multiple chronic medical issues, a transgender daughter, & the worst healthcare “provider” this craptacular country has to offer.
I’d be thrilled if Canada would accept my family moving there, except my husband absolutely loathes the “frigid” winters & would refuse to move there for that reason alone.
I find him completely unreasonable in his catlike hatred of cold weather. 😉
IOW- TL;DR we’re getting by as well as can be expected.
I like going to Trader Joe’s but it can be brutal! (go right when they open) People watching is fun there because the stereotypes of their costumers is pretty accurate. 😄
What we’re doing is getting ready for Snowmageddon 2026. Our local grocery shelves will be slim pickings.

When will you be going to see Sharky’s new sister/sisters, brother/brothers?
We want to get Sharky settled in first, so maybe a week or two.

I am so very excited about Stargate. Even more excited to hear you are involved. That means Amazon cares for the people who love this show. Amazon did a fantastic job with The Expanse. I can’t wait to see what a new Stargate looks like.
Things were insane for us from late 2023 until sometime this month when things were settling down finally this week. To all my friends who normally get a Christmas card from me–I debated on sending one 2 weeks ago, but I figured you would get it maybe sometime this week and just decided not to send one. I do have what I mailed on my WordPress site so just let me know and I can get you the password. Still trying to avoid a narcissist sociopath I used to know; he does not get to know what is going on in my life. Lots of pictures on my site (more than I could mail out to friends and family). I’m hoping with this calming down that I can get back to my 33 years of stuff in boxes. LOL.
