In addition to getting ready for the Stargate writers’ room in L.A., I am also furiously catching up on all of my favorite shows I neglected during my torrid reading year. I’ve worked my way through over half of my To Do list…
I can’t track down Crimi Clowns or season 6 of Mocro Maffia, and it turns out I’ve already watched the third season of Gangs of London. Over the past few days, I watched The Diplomat season 2, Only Murders in the Building season 5, Slow Horses season 5, and all but the final episode of season 7 of Der Tatoreiniger. Think I may tackle Blanca season 3 tomorrow. Once I’m done, I will, of course, have some thoughts on all of these shows.
Do you guys have opinions on any of the above? What are you currently watching?
Last night my sister sent me the following – uh – Normal Rockwell version of our Christmas family photo and it is something…
Aside from the fact that we all look unnervingly happy, my mother seems to have morphed into a slightly younger French woman, Ralphie my sister’s miniature pinscher is now a chihuahua, and Sharky has eyes. I also seem to be married to a completely different Asian woman who has mysteriously acquired a new wedding ring.
Came across this behind the scenes shot from Stargate: Atlantis’s “The Shrine”…
Rodney and Arthur.

I literally have never heard of any of those shows, lol! Not really watching anything in particular at the moment. I suspect at some point I’ll resubscribe to Netflix and watch the last season of Stranger Things. I do have every SG DVD from every series, so I was actually thinking of doing a full rewatch. I might be done by the time the new show comes out! 🙂
I’m watching “Murdoch Mysteries”, Season 19. Not much else has my attention.
Je vous suis depuis si longtemps. J’ai dû manquer un épisode! Are you going to work on a new Stargate project?
I wish you an Happy New Year. We’ve just finished our all SG-1 saga with Ark of thruth tonight!
Yes. Heading to L.A. to work on a new Stargate series created by Martin Gero
Love the artistic impression of your family!! Aside from your comments on it, most of you look younger! I have seen advertised these artistic versions from a photo, and yours turned out great. Seemed to be just advertised at Christmas.
Tell Andria I like it, and I bet your Mother does, too!

Slow Horses is the best show on TV right now. What did you think of it?
Definitely one of the better shows, but can get a little silly and contrived.
We’re currently watching The Pitt. It’s brutal and raw and so accurate in its depiction of US trauma medical ERs. There are a couple episodes left in the first season for us, but the last one we watched was emotionally overwhelming so we’re taking a break for a couple of days. Chief of War with Jason Momoa is the other one we have going now.
I am not aware of any of the shows that you are watching but I can not recomend Fallout more highly and Season 2 is even better than Season 1. Great cast and wonderful characters, stylistically querky (almost steam punkish) but in the very best way and, gorgeous cinmatography and colouring. You do not have to have played the game or even been aware of it previously to enjoy this show. It has humorous moments and some light violence but nothing that would upset someone who is sensitive. The standouts from the cast are Ella Purnel and Walton Goggins (both wonderful) who play the main protagonists, Aaron Moten (also wonderful) who plays the third main character, and Kyle MacLachlan (in an excellent bad guy role) and Leslie Uggams (also playing someone that has, or may not have, bad intentions yet to be revealed). It is exteremly binge worthy and hugely enjoyable.
Just finished Season 5 of Only Murders in the building, not as good as the first three seasons but much better than most other series. Slow horses is on my todo list and I just started The Residence which is very good 3 episodes in
You look a bit like Cary Grant in the pic! I love Slow Horses, Gary Oldman’s brilliant and I also watch Only Murders for a bit of lighter entertainment. One of the most recent series totally loved was It: Welcome To Derry. So much better than the films. Hopefully there’ll be a second series. (I like my horror nearly as much as scifi) Just started the second series of The Night Manager, so I’ll get stuck into that on the BBC IPlayer instead of waiting every week for an episode
I am a fan of Slow Horses. Very much in the spirit of Len Deighton and John Le Carre with a touch of New Tricks. Good cast playing interesting complex characters. The plot of season 5 was very interesting to follow. I am currently working my way through Apple+ shows thanks to Murderbot. Currently on Plurbius but I keep thinking of questions I would ask a unifed Earth mind the show is not. Also watching Bondsman with Kevin Bacon who is an interesting anti-hero.
From your list I’ve only watched Only Murders which I love. Huge Steve Martin fan. Sounds like Slow Horses is highly rated by your blog readers, though. I might have to check it out.
I just finished S5 of Stranger Things. I enjoyed it but was frustrated by the main characters constantly stopping while in mid-peril to have a heart to heart about their feelings or family or other rubbish. Just get to the action and save the handwringing for afterwards . . . if you survive.
I’ve started S2 of Fallout. During the “Previously on” recaps at the start of each episode I’m discovering that I remember almost nothing from the first season. Not a good sign.
Most of my time goes to YouTube these days. Mostly science, engineering, and math channels. And a lot of reaction channels where I watch people watching stuff I’ve already watched. Modern life is weird.
I LOVE that “Norman Rockwell” family picture!! Everyone looks great!
I love the gorgeous Norman Rockwell, finally A.I. is good for something.
The best stuff I saw last year was Fallout, Etoile, Last Shogun Standing, Down Cemetery Road, Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy, Solar Opposites and Apothecary Diaries. I’m looking forward to Love Through a Prism which has nostalgic Candy Candy vibes and I’m enjoying Master Crimes. I was totally hooked on Miss Night and Day and Heavenly Ever After.
Will have to look some of these up. Thanks!
