Alrighty, I’ve put it off long enough. Made an appointment to visit my optometrist on Monday. I’m at the point where I can’t work on my computer for more than an hour before the headache and nausea sets in. Also, the full bright screen setting could, quite frankly, be brighter. Akemi, of course, disagrees. I suspect that my focusing issues could account for my low reading output this year. Hopefully a new pair of reading glasses will rectify that.

Spoiler Alert!
Had to set aside my writing today to work on a new project: trying every flavor of LaCroix so that I can rank them in an upcoming blog post.

I don’t know how you’ve gotten along this long without the reading glasses! I’m to the point where just taking off my “far” glasses is not enough to see clearly up close – or even middle distance to the computer screen for that matter. I have a special pair of progressive lens glasses just for that. Ugh.
LOL @ “bombshell report” Nice. Anyway, AI is probably going to just kill us all at some point anyway, since unfortunately it is probably the logical thing to do. I mean, have you been on Facebook?
It’s just been almost a year since I got my reading glasses (actually in my case, progressive lenses). Definitely has made a difference for me, less dizziness, less headaches … and I can read better with less tiredness.
I too decided it was time to go to the optometrist this week and replace my 8-9? year old glasses. I was always so busy to go in the past plus I see my glaucoma doctor about 4 times a year anyway. I was afraid my current glasses would crumble in my hand or break and I’d have to duct tape them back together. My new ones come in, in about two weeks. How exciting! Like Christmas!
I made it to 48 before I got reading glasses. The best thing I ever did! I didn’t get headaches and I could still see my computer screen fine but reading books was a struggle. My eyes have deteriorated more in the last couple of years and I need to go back and get an updated prescription. I’m still good with the medium to far vision but I’ve noticed even with my glasses on I need to move my book or phone further and further away.
I received my first dose of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine today! Even though I became eligible for the Pfizer on Thursday there’s a huge waiting list for appointments. So I figured I’d try my luck at the local medical centre and walked in for the AZ. If you don’t hear from me for a couple of weeks it’s because I’ve died from blood clots.
I was reading an interesting article about the AZ vaccine. Looks like there is a fix for the vaccine. https://news.yahoo.com/german-scientist-believes-hes-found-204625780.html
I was born with bad eyes and have been wearing glasses since I was three. The kindle/audbile have been a life saver for me. I have the kindle font jacked up to an embarrassing level. 😉 Good luck at the optometrist!
As for the intelligent drones, I just finished a book (on Audible) about that very subject. It’s the latest book in the Orphan X series called Parodical Son. Evan (the lead) is fighting a swarm (they look like metal dragonflies) of advanced AI drones that can operate independently and when they lock onto a target, no one can call them off. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53138122-prodigal-son FYI, Orphan X would make a good movie. 😉
Have a great weekend!
I’m not ready quite yet to venture to the eye doc, I’m hoping my glasses will do for another year. Those drones are creepy, and it’s even more disturbing how it was a tiny blip in the news cycle.
Maybe you just need more bugs bun… uh .. carrots in your diet?
Anywho, If you spent a whole day drinking Lacroix
I suspect your’e soon gonna need more than a trip to the eye doctor to resolve what ails you.
