Well, this is exciting.  Akemi made chili oil today using shallots, garlic, Szechuan peppercorns, dried garden chilis, and salt.  I’d describe it as medium-spicy.  And delicious.

Speaking of delicious…

So the press release for that book series adaptation will be going out next week.  I offered some suggested tweaks and, of course, a quote – drawn from this very blog.  It’s going to be a blast.

Working Project F, meanwhile, continues apace.  I’ve hit the 57 page mark and probably will be long – but not AS long as I originally assumed.   I’m quite happy with the first four acts and, no doubt, will be pleased with the fifth one as well after I’ve massaged and polished it a few times.  Going to try to complete a solid first draft by top of next week and get it out to my readers.  And, while they’re reading, I’m going to have to do a deep dive into some potential K-pop score and source music.  I usually find research tiresome but in this case, I’m okay with it.

Wildcard Weekend kicks off early tomorrow afternoon with the first of SIX GAMES!  I’ll be rooting for a Saints-Titans Super Bowl.  My second choices would be Bills-Packers.  The absolute worst possible Super Bowl match-up would be Chiefs-Seahawks.  And you?

  1. That chili oil looks and sounds deeee-lish!

My Super Bowl preference would be Chiefs-Packers (though I guess that would make this weekend a waste of time). Second preference would be Chiefs-Seahawks (which I agree would be almost as boring as Patriots-anybody has been for the past ?decade? maybe). Third preference would be Bills-Washington — Bills because they’re so interesting and Football Team because that’s so weird in so many ways, not the least for the resulting engraving on the Lombardi Trophy.

  2. Chili oil? Sounds yummy! I knew Akemi would be keeping busy. How are you using the chili oil? Chili oil would be good with that sourdough bread I bet.

Last summer, I made batches of pesto and jalapeno in oil and froze them in ice tray cubes. I’ve been enjoying the pesto in pastas, pizzas and soups lately. I’ve been using the jalapeno to start soups or rice. A little taste of summer in this cold is a good thing.

We’re going to miss Futurama. 🙁

  3. Congratulations on the book series adaptation – it sounds exciting! I’ll keep an eye out for the press release.
