Going a little stir crazy here in Montreal. But, at least, I’m getting stuff done. I’ve read four books and two graphic novels, written twenty-five pages of the new TimEscape script, and just had a call regarding that horror script. They asked me if I wanted to direct and, while interesting, it’s not something I’ve ever felt compelled to do. On the other hand, it would afford me more creative control of the project and would also help diversify my career: writer, director, producer, craft service sampler.
I think I’m coming down with something. I’m feeling tired, run down. Have a bit of a cough. Headache. Sore throat. As luck would have it, however, I have to get up at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow to accompany my mother to the hospital for her 8:15 a.m. appointment. She’s having her cast removed. On her last visit there, she waited six and a half hours. And she had an appointment!
Having lived in three of Canada’s major cities, I can honestly say Montreal is the WORST city to get sick. Waiting times are ridiculous. Vancouver, on the other hand, is the opposite. Now THAT is a city you want to get sick in!
Yesterday, I had lunch with this blog’s Chief Executive Officer in Charge of Tech Support, Fred, and his girlfriend Jennyfer. Good times!
Meanwhile, back on the home front…
Hopefully on a positive note, the hospital staff won’t make you & your Mom wait as long if they end up worrying that you’re infected with the coronavirus?

That sounds like the cold that is going around here. Mine started over a week ago with a severely sore throat and a really bad cough. Made me feel really tired, too. I’m only just starting to get over it now!

Nothing worse than long hospital waits when you don’t feel well! I hope your mum’s cast removal goes well and that she has healed properly. Maybe they will move quickly with the scare of nasty bugs in the air.
Akemi is quite the cook. If your projects don’t work out, you could always open a restaurant. I love her videos! She almost makes tofu seem edible.
Hey Joe, I’m sure the following has been asked many times by others, but now it’s my turn. lol I’ve just recently gotten into Fantasy novels. I’m still in the learning phase, so I’ve only read the Dark Elf Trilogy and Eragon so far. Loved both series! I’m ready to progress a bit to a little more mature writing, but don’t want to jump too fast. I love the old traditional kinds of stories, but am willing to try more creative things. Don’t want anything too deep yet, though. I really love interesting world-building and dystopic universes.
What would you recommend?

Thanks for the suggestions Joe. I looked them up and decided to start with Joe Abercrombie’s “The Blade Itself”, the first in his series. The reviews make it look intriguing, and with humor I’m sure it will be the kind of book I love! I have a lot of reading ahead of me. I’ll let you know which one’s I like the best.

Horror script – While I’m not a fan of horrors, I still wish it to be successful. Yes boss, you should try directing. XD
Canadian healthcare – For non life threatening cases, unfortunately, long wait is common. Even with appointment, your doc might still be pulled away unexpectedly during clinic to deal with emergencies.

I’m watching Utopia Falls. It’s pretty good. It reminds me of Divergent and Hunger Games but with good music. The cast is excellent. Dwain Murphy reminds me of Laurence Fishburne. Snoop Dogg was a pleasant surprise.
I hope you and your Mom are doing better. This won’t help your Mom but for you, do they have online physician services there? It’s a new thing here that sounds great for minor things like sinus infections/flu. Insurances here are starting to encourage this by covering fees.
Hope your moms cast removal went well and she didn’t have to wait too terribly long.
