Almost 35k tweets in an hour.  Fantastic.  I think we can work on those replies, making more of an effort to engage with our fellow tweeters, but overall this is amazing for a dry run.  Almost everyone was fantastic at following the one hashtag rule with only about 1% of participants tweeting out more than one.

We got a big boost from some influencers lead by Stargate’s Michael Shanks, and Dark Matter’s Zoie Palmer and Alex Mallari Jr.  Majorie Liu, Rachel Caine, Peter Williams, Simone Bailly, Jeff Teravainen, Corin Nemec, Mika McKinnon,  Patrick Gilmore, Mike Dopud, and David Nykl were instrumental were a big part of yesterday’s tweet storm that saw us trending in both the U.S. and Canada.  As were you all, especially these three, our top tweeters…

  1. Hi Joe, I have a question about how Twitter will tally us. For those who have just joined Twitter, or just follow others and don’t tweet (that would include me), and therefore don’t have followers, will our tweets still register in the tally? If not, is there a way to make our tweets count?

    1. As long as you tweet with that includes that night’s dedicated hashtag, it counts!

  2. So, I’m reading this post on my phone, and can’t really see the names of the “top posters” but just the numbers. I’m thinking, “what crazy person did 567??” Then I zoom in and… “Oh, that one.” 🙂 That was a lot of retweeting in that (average about every 6 seconds(!)), but I hope to do more original tweets in the real thing. I only did about 15 that time, but for next week I hope to at least triple that, maybe more.

Does anyone know if replies help with trending more than just retweeting for numbers? I know it’s much more fun to interact, though the tweets were flying by so fast in my timeline that it was hard to catch any particular one.

  3. That was so much fun last night! I’ll work on more replies for next week, and will take a few more photos over the week to have ready for sharing. I was running around my house last night trying to find what to photograph.

  4. That was fun! Looking forward to next Friday! Will try to do better with the replies.

  5. Next week I believe I might pre-write a bunch of tweets before hand in notepad. Then, once it starts it will simply be a matter of C&P individual tweets into twitter and hit enter. It might prevent any twitter-block that could happen once the starting bell chimes!

Also, I was pretty surprised to read, (and see) that 99% of the fans managed to follow directions! The tweets containing multiple hash tags stuck out like a sore thumb! Last week, after the rules were presented here, I didn’t hold out much hope that would happen. After reading through the comments, it was really hard to tell if people were even commenting to the correct blog!

It is apparent, tho, after reading through last night’s tweets, that Stargate fans are pretty good people. Hope we kill it next week!

  6. I’m terribly sorry that I let you down. I wasn’t feeling well and fell asleep. I had the phone with me an hour before-ready and waiting. 🙁 I’ll do better next time.
