We held our very first open house today which required us to be out and about for approximately two hours while prospective buyers meandered through our personal space and passed judgement on my complete Gilligan’s Island dvd collection. When all was said and done, we had thirteen groups come through with at least three of them showing actual interest. But we’ll see how interested after the weekend when we open the floor to offers.
I, of course, hope we receive a terrific offer sooner than later for the simple reason that it will allow Akemi and I to sleep in our own bed again. Yesterday, the stagers came in and fixed the place up, replacing pug art and my John Scalzi novels with nature paintings and Donna cookbooks. They brought in some side tables, throw pillows, then spent a good thirty minutes steaming the wrinkles out of the new duvet in the master bedroom. Fearful of ruining their exquisite placements, we’ve taken to restricting our activities to the kitchen island and the upstairs guest room.
Another open house tomorrow means Akemi and I (and Lulu and Suji) will once again be taking our show on the road.
I have an update on The Mystery of the Garbage That Wasn’t Mine. A few weeks ago, I may have mentioned finding someone else’s garbage in our recycling bin. I mean, being made responsible for someone else’s trash is bad enough, but having to be conscientious about it really annoyed me. So I did a little investigative work and, amid the discarded clothing and leftovers stuffed inside, I discovered an old father’s day card that read: “To Dad, From Luigi and Silvana and Anthony and Rosie and Nathan. We All Love You”. Aha! Well, the other day, the I was talking to the guy across the alley and he mentioned that the former owner of the house he is living in was now living with his son, Lou. Lou! Short for Luigi perhaps??? Oh, he’s going down!
But enough about me. How about more of you and your thoughts on the latest episode of Dark Matter: Welcome To The Revolution? This one has generated a fair amount of buzz…

You never know, you create the characters, write the script and cast as best you can. You see who pops and who doesn’t, and I felt Mishka and Ayisha were terrific. It’s always interesting to throw in new blood on the ship to mix things up and see how our characters will react. I like the dynamic between Three and Solara right off the bat, and I like the dynamic between Five and Adrian, so it’s something we’ll explore this season.

This was an interesting episode, which explored the idea of workers being exploited by corporations and the subsequent rebellions that are always likely to happen.

Dark Matter is putting the effects of the corporation war front and center as The Raza crew deal with the rough times the outer colonies must contend with. The main theme this season is providing us is the passion of growing leaders and the roles they will play. Ishida is a leader, Two has been a leader, and now Six is growing into a leadership role with Five becoming more and more independent as well. Soon, we’ll have them playing key roles that will better shape this war into their personal favor that could spell disaster for one of them, Four being the most to lose if he somehow loses his way.

With each passing episode this season, Dark Matter is upping the stakes and changing things around. This was a big one for that instituted a lot of change, but it was also a very character driven episode with a heavy focus on Six which allowed Roger Cross to really shine as he took his character through a complicated journey of self-discovery.

There were many fine moments for Six throughout the episode, showcasing the depth he added to the crew. The performances from the rest of the crew were likewise solid; Adrian Maro adds humorous color to the Raza’s crew, and Solara’s cool, understated professionalism plays superbly against the other personalities, especially Three.
Please tell me that The General that #6 shot was a clone. He’s a cool Big Bad that could be brought back if you kill off # 4. You need more Andrew Jackson. 😉
I agree there is a new dynamic with the addition of Adrian & Solara. I instantly liked their characters and the interaction with our Raza crew. Adrain makes me smile and Solora is actually comforting in a Special Forces, Black Ops kinda way. Whereas Adrain is smooth tongued, Solara is just plain smooth!
The revelation of Sarah, her ability to modify her virtual reality existence and all the possibilities this presents will be interesting! Poor Three! Anthony did a great job with the conflicted looks and silence. Five should be sorry, what has she done? I have a feeling this program can’t run indefinitely. Sarah will dies all over again.
There’s so much that happened in this episode. Corporate domination, down trodden workers, double deals, the General returns, two new Raza members, and one member leaves. Ryo puts a hit out on the Raza crew and what a motley crew of mercenaries and bounty hunters he has assembled!
Next week looks to be off the hook! New previews on After Dark and SyFy web page have upped the ante! An ominous time piece that is creating a time distortion, Three in a time loop, Android & Five “look different”. The future looks….dark.

I am so sorry Joe, but I missed both showings of Dark Matter this week. I sat down on the couch to watch Friday night and the next thing I know my beagle is tapping me on the shoulder, looking at me like “Are you dead? I got to go outside”. I fell asleep at approximately 7:10 pm and got woke up at 8:15 pm. I’m missing the 9 pm old time. And Saturday morning, I sleep until 8:40 am. Dark Matter was rerunning at 7:30 am. Did I miss anyOne’s return??
My neighbors and I sometimes use each other’s trash or recycle, but we talked about it. Having someone just do it is creepy. TAKE HIM DOWN! 🙂
Sigh, I am behind because daughter working and there is a fit if I watch without her. I think I’m going to start lying and watch alone then again with her. Tomorrow though, can’t wait.
Hey Joe. Happy Fur Daddy Day! Rain has finally let up a bit here. We did get another heavy downpour yesterday but thankfully it only lasted a short while this time. Don’t think we are quite out of the woods just yet, though.

Sorry to hear about your trash bin woes but very glad to hear the open house went well. Hope you get some offers genuinely worth entertaining. You still haven’t told us if you are just going to move full time into the place you’ve been renting thus so far as short term lease in Toronto? Or if you’ve come up with a different plan in the event the house sells? Also: Any plans to head to LA this summer? And any further progress on takers for your new military sci fi story?
As far as DM Ep 3 goes: Have kinda mixed wishy-washy feelings about the latest developments, but it will be interesting to see where it all leads.
I do at least know I’m definitely looking forward to more Sarah 2.0, Getting to check out more of the amazing sets this season and Finally learning Androids new name!

We had the neighbor’s kids do that before at our first house. Those kids ran wild and we got out of that house ASAP. The garbage was just one of many straws. Anyway, can you put the can behind your fence? You’ll be out of there soon enough.
I always hated showing our house. Last time, I had a small child and two cats. I’d crate the cats and bundle up the kid and we’d spend the day out. It was not fun. Sounds like you should get an offer soon. One of my neighbors moved a few months ago (I miss her, she was wonderful). Anyhoo, she said the worst problem was that the buyers couldn’t meet the bank requirements. They had too much debt, not enough down payment or bad credit. So, just because you get an offer, don’t count those chickens right off. Hopefully, the economy is a bit better there.

It’s interesting to see that the General wasn’t a clone. My first thought was that he had to be because it was just too easy for him to be taken out and I was waiting for the camera to cut down to a disappearing body. Maybe the General’s organisation will also be gunning for the Raza. crew. Can’t wait to see the next episode! I will spend the week continuing my re-watch of seasons 1 and 2.
I had a neighbor who was too cheap to pay for garbage pick up, so he would go around at night and toss a bag in people’s cans that were out but not full. Ours is rarely even half full, so I’m thinking we ended up with a lot of it in ours. Didn’t bother me much, as we paid the same price whether it was full or empty. What did bother me was that this neighbor actually laughed about it, had no problem advertising he was doing it, and just assumed everyone was okay with it.

Time to gift them with your neighbors with a dream board made up of their discarded rubbish, with lots of glitter and ribbons. Promise to gift them with another garbage dream board soon because they are the perfect gift for every occasion!
So, I assume that the General is deader than a disco-dancing dodo, and the colonial militia gig has put Six on the metaphorical bus for a good couple episodes, right?
