Damnit, I knew this was going to happen.  52 pages into the new pilot and things have slowed to a standstill.  With the Dark Matter writers’ room in full swing, my attention is focused elsewhere, however I did manage to write a single new scene this morning.  At this rate, I’m going to have to revise my ETD (estimated time of delivery) to end of the month.  That’s when my “military advisors” (You know who you are!) can expect to see a first draft for vetting purposes.

Yes, it’s military SF.  In addition to input from the experts, I’m also doing a little research – by way of reading six books simultaneously to put me in the proper headspace.

By mid-July, all I’ll need is a proper series title and then it’ll be smoooooth sailing!

Not quite as smooth sailing on the DM third season story front, but progress is being made.  As I mentioned in previous blog instalments, I have all the pieces of the puzzle but just need to figure out a way to put them together.  Which is where Paul, Ivon, Alison, and Lawren come in.

Me, poised to write down one of Ivon’s brilliant ideas.

Like previous seasons, the goal is to pack as much story as possible into these 13 episodes because – who knows? – it could be the show’s (or my) last.  Ideally I’ll get to tell the full five season story I have planned, paying off all those clues (hidden and otherwise) and arcs we’ve set up over these first couple of years. If not, don’t worry – you’ll get your ending whether it’ll be in a movie, a comic book, or write here on this blog.

  1. You look… maniacal…

Or just plain nuts. I can’t decide which. 😉

    das

  2. Yikes! Yep, das and scifigirl2016 … definitely agree … even phantom of the space opera -y!

  3. Agree with BoltBait – Ender’s game is the first book and Ender’s Shadow somewhat mirrors and expands. I loved both books.

LOL….you do have a strange look – donut or chocolate or macaron or ice cream deprived – crazy.

  4. Bye bye Mr. Space Station! Have read Ender’s Game but not the others. Currently in a David Baldacci mood. No SciFi just sick psychopathic killers. Planning on switching to mindless tropical fun with Jill Marie Landis at the end of the month when I go on vacation.

Six is looking intense! And you dear sir are looking diabolical! Gonna play that keyboard like Billy Joel plays a piano!

  5. You do look a little maniacal. Maybe it was a good thing Alison forgot the donuts.

I liked “Ender’s Shadow” better than “Ender’s Game”. What about “The Old Man’s War” and “The Forever War”? Both are good choices.

  6. However did I manage to be the first to comment? Haven’t done that in ages! Oh, I know… Crazy Joey always get my attention!

    @TheOtherOne – Phantom of the Space Opera – I LOVE it!!! 😀

    das

  7. Starship Troopers is a book; wonder which came first, the book or the movie. I don’t usually read the book after seeing a movie, and vice versa, cause there is always changes I don’t like. Outlander is prolly one of the only that breaks my general rule. The tv show is outstanding; while I can easily pick out some of the changes, most are minor enough for me to get over it. They didn’t change the essence of the characters, which is very important to me. Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher?? OMG that is one of the worst character changes I’ve ever seen.

  8. On another note; my first born graduates from high school today. Been a looonngggggg day so far, waiting for the time to leave. So happy we are not in the last slot of the day.

  9. Crazy photo……you should caption that one!

    >>Now, that sounds like it’s going to be a busy July 👍

  10. I love the crazy pic. It’s almost like you’re in the process of killing off a character! Wait, what was the new doctor’s name, again? 😉

I got great news in an email from Netflix yesterday, Dark Matter is now available for streaming in Canada! (Finally!) Just in time for a pre-S2 binge watch!

Congrats and good luck for your first born’s graduation. Enjoy the day! 😃

  12. “you’ll get your ending whether it’ll be in a movie, a comic book, or write here on this blog.”

WOO HOO! COOL! And THANK YOU! Now, if we could just get Brad Wright to write season 3 of Stargate Universe. Paperback novel form would be okay with me, but I’ll take whatever I can get.

  13. Thanks @TheOtherOne! Was a crazy day; the graduation scheduled before ours started 1.5 hours late, there was a bus accident. We ended up in extra traffic, which caused ours to start 30 mins late. Ugh but we’re done and my son is officially a college man! LOL
