The domed chamber is coming along nicely, but we might need to widen it a little.

Rolling!

  1. Everything’s looking great! Even the prison cells don’t look too bad, although again the lack of a potty would greatly concern me. Maybe that’s part of the torture – you have to hold it until prescribed out-of-cell potty visits?

  2. So Coool! why is the 2 person “dorm” room “nicer” than the 1 person room?
    what’s the difference?

  3. Professor Bartok – I’d sign up for his class… I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again – I’m digging the winter beard…. So long as it doesn’t become a Ned Kelly one… Then I might change my mind hehehehe… Stay warm…. Go football!!!!!

All the best for filming… Do you do Fraturdays Joe? I’m loving the sets… The bed looks comfy… Where do they go to the bathroom?

    Cheers, Chev

  4. That space prison is so damned purdy I almost want to be incarcerated. And why do we have to leave our cell phones behind? Wouldn’t they be right at home in our, um, cells? (Feel free to throw things at me for that. I deserve it.)

  5. I will make a bold guess. The double occupancy cells are for Five and Two.
Okay… I’m probably wrong. Two is probably in a secure lab being “studied”. But I would think a juvenile wouldn’t be left alone – right?

Question: how could anyone use the toilet facilities in those cells with an entire wall open to the corridor?

For the record, all of these sets look awesome! The excitement grows…

  6. @Tom Gardiner: “And why do we have to leave our cell phones behind? Wouldn’t they be right at home in our, um, cells?”

Personally, I think that’s brilliant. Not to mention an important and relevant question.

  7. @Tom Gardiner – Silly! 😆 But good point!

I’ll join the “where’s-the-john?” chorus here.

And I think you ought to get that sofa in your office a cameo in one of the scenes. Maybe in a hotel room or the Warden’s office.

  8. Aaah, the sets (and costumes) and their creators continue to impress. ! Could that dome thing have anything to do with Two’s containment?
Aaah, blue screen, blue screen, blue screen 😉. So good to see blue screen! 😁 and my, you have a biggy there! Is it front lit or back lit?

On the other important matter discussed here, I’ve recently had my bathroom updated/redecorated and believe me when I say not having access to a loo is absolute torture!!!

Thanks again Joe for your daily dose of Dark Matter magic 🎬 Really appreciate it!

  9. A pass key….as well as the mysterious key that Five has – coincidence? A matching pair? Teaser? 🤔

Twin room looks too ‘equipped’ for prisoners, so I’m thinking its for the GA guards/personnel? Maybe Six and Lt Anders?

Mmm…. a door, a corridor and ‘no prisoners beyond this point’ sign. Got to mean trouble #bringiton

The domed chamber looks snug! A torture chamber with mind-altering noise/sounds/gas/lights? It’s great fun speculating what everything in your posts could mean.
Looking forward to finding out their real purpose 😎

  10. @gforce @kathyC judging by the set up of the solitary confinement cell, ( no bed) and the freeze pose Bruce Macdonald struck for his photo once standing in that circle in the back of the cell, I am betting no potty is needed because what happens is you are frozen into place, standing with your eyes open. So you are mentally and visually aware of everything but your body parts are frozen and do not function with the exception of your heart and brain.

Still cant figure out what the heck that domed structure is supposed to be? Its starting to vaguely resemble a domed hot tub or perhaps you sit down in it and chemicals, gas or charged beams of some sort are sprayed down on you via external hoses they might eventually attach to the centers of those star shaped joints connecting each bar? (similar to the concept sketch Joe shared with us a while back). ???

  11. restroom , must be some place on the wall, you press, or lean against, toilet seat emerges, retracts when finished, bidet type? and some kind of mist to decontaminate hands,, just guessing since it is a curiosity.. it’s all magical. and maybe can’t expect much privacy in prison…

  12. Those cells appeal to my OCD but I’ll join the “Where’s the john chorus” like Ponytail suggested.

  13. Maybe the toilet slides out of the wall? And if there are aliens, what would a “one size fits all” ET potty look like? See, just hide the waste removal unit behind the wall, easy solution.

  14. Dallas Marshall (@MrsTigercat) wrote, “Um, if the domed chamber truly needs to be “widened a little” that will call for a total rebuild.”

And if I had built it, I’d have a total hissy fit…. “What do you mean it needs to be a “little wider”?!! A “little wider”?!!!! I can’t just snap my fingers or twitch my nose and poof! it’s wider!! Why didn’t you say something before?!! You’re just going to have to get smaller and use smaller actors!! This ain’t easy ya know!! Well…okay…how much wider? I’ll start now.”

  15. G’day
    Mystery guest star…RDA!!!…RDA!!!..RDA!!!
I know it’s not but I can wish.

I am guessing the dunny slides out from the wall but no privacy.

  16. As far as @2cats question, it would be no different than the cells in prisons today where you go in front of everyone. And one bed per prisoner? There is so much overcrowding in prisons, there are some cells with beds on the floor in a size cell like that with one toilet. Not even kidding.
