“You’re as busy as a chocolate shop on Valentine’s Day!”

– Akemi this morning after I told her I’d be going to set next Saturday as well.

“Tell Ivon that too much riding bicycle will damage his cincin.”

– Akemi this afternoon after hearing about my friend Ivon’s affinity for spin class.

“No more poppylocky.”

– A disappointed Akemi this afternoon upon discovering the corner shop was out of popsicles.

May 3, 2015: Just Enough Time To Catch My Breath…

A rare respite from the frenzy of amped up production.  Today was the calm in the eye of the storm, an opportunity to relax and tend to personal matters like bill payments, emails, mail…

May 3, 2015: Just Enough Time To Catch My Breath…

And, of course, the dogs.

May 3, 2015: Just Enough Time To Catch My Breath…
Anti-social Bubba on the outside looking in at the local dog park.

Then tomorrow, we do it all over again, starting with three successive location days and culminating in yet another Saturday shoot.

Uh oh.  Enjoy it while you can, kids.  Apparently, in about ten years from now, we’ll be going back to hand-written letters and actually interacting with real live people: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3064915/The-Internet-reach-limit-just-eight-years-warn-engineers.html

  1. I’d venture that the planet has more serious problems going on than slow internet speeds in the next 20 years.

Was Bubba nervous of the other dogs in the park, or being a bit too contentious? I can’t imagine him starting some kind of altercation!

  2. The Net: Thanks for the warning. I’ll run this by my “courtesy uncle”, who worked on at least one of the 20th-century undersea cables while at
    Bell Labs.

Some day, in interest of fairness, I’d like to hear from Akemi how you mangle Japanese. 😈. Lord knows I’ve made my share of malapropisms in Spanish.

  3. I wouldn’t worry about the internet. That article is not well grounded in the physics behind optical data transmissions (it confuses the amount of light going through a cable with the amount of data encoded in the light stream…they are not the same). Better light sensors and laser diodes are still following Moore’s law (more so than CPUs), and encoding techniques techniques are becoming more feasible so bandwidths should continue to escalate for some time to come.

“Anti-social Bubba”? Has Lulu’s bed-stealing ways made poor Bubba grumpy?

  4. Sorry, it should’ve been “better encoding techniques are becoming more feasible”.

  5. When you going to Japan? And where did you get the cape? Because you know what Edna Mode says… 😉

@ Duptiang – Americans love big asses. And I’m not talking about their behinds. 😉

    das

  6. Hey, I still have working fountain pens. The steampunk trend may prove useful after all. In a post apocalyptic world, the steampunkers, the SCA, and the Mountain Man re-enactors will have valuable tools and skills. And don’t forget the burners, a lot of us could live pretty well on the camps , we keep in our sheds and garages. There’s a reality show for you.

  7. I tend not to take scientific/technological articles done by the Daily Mail seriously, they’re often either poorly written, or just over exagerated in their headlines so people click on them.

    Take this one.
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3063082/Has-Nasa-built-WARP-DRIVE-Engineers-claim-tested-impossible-engine-travel-faster-speed-light.html

Nasa doesn’t have a warp drive. It has an EMDrive that could make space travel just a little quicker. If technology advances to such a point that travel to Mars could take a few months, that’d be great really. But yeah, we haven’t suddenly found a way to travel FTL.

  8. So I Googled the Japanese translation for cincin… I’m glad I wasn’t drinking at the time… Oh Akemi you’re so funny…. Yes, um protect the cincin Ivon.

We’re still waiting for fast Internet in Australia…

    Cheers, Chev

  9. Bubba does look pleased with himself in his girlfriends arms…
Ahh, the internet, such a wonderful invention,,where would I get all the news that is so newsworthy. One day it will probably all go away, and we will be back to the pioneer days of hanging all our dirty laundry out on a line to dry instead of sharing with the whole dang world. Heck we can’t even make a wormhole, let alone be able to navigate thru one. I watched an episode of Star Talk with Neil Degrasse Tyson the other day. I hope your week is a great one.

  10. Love the Akemisims!! Poor Bubba….time out sucks. 🙁

Das: We are always quoting that movie. you know what Edna Mode says…
Another favorite from the movie: Where’s my super suit?
    Honey: What?
Lucius: Where – is – my – super – suit?
Honey: I, uh, put it away.
    [helicopter explodes outside]
    Lucius: *Where*?
Honey: *Why* do you *need* to know?
    Lucius: I need it!
[Lucius rummages through another room in his condo]
Honey: Uh-uh! Don’t you think about running off doing no daring-do. We’ve been planning this dinner for two months!
Lucius: The public is in danger!
    Honey: My evening’s in danger!
Lucius: You tell me where my suit is, woman! We are talking about the greater good!
Honey: ‘Greater good?’ I am your wife! I’m the greatest *good* you are ever gonna get!

There you go! That concludes my effort to make ya’ll smile for the day. 🙂

  11. I thought Lost Girl would do better than this on Fridays, such a shame. 555k viewers, and a 0.1 in the 18-49. For a show with such a great fanbase it’s kinda sad to see. They’re always so positive on twitter.

A little over a month until Dark Matter premieres too. Hyped 🙂

  12. Please tell Akemi chan I think the same thing every time I see a guy in my spin classes! Also, tell her I have friends who lives on a street called “chikopee” and see how she reacts. I laugh every time I go to their house. 😉

  13. Bubba is just telling you that Akemi is his girlfriend and you better back off. I know I’m behind AGAIN. No clients tonight so I’m trying to catch up.
