Received confirmation that the very first Dark Matter teaser trailer will hit the net tomorrow morning. Watch for it!
Today, Paul and I completed our final pass on episode #113, the big season finale! Looking forward to hearing the reactions…
Came across the following sign on one of our stages today. Should I be worried?
Also came across this little item on set today. Not sure what it is, but I think I might need one.
Our Dark Matter whisky club whisky collection continues to grow. Another bottle of scotch…
c/o 1st Assistant Director Brandon Tataryn.
Two more recent additions to our whisky club. I like scotch, but I love bourbon – and that baby bourbon is a tasty one!
1st Assistant Director Grant Boyle contributes yet another bottle to the club.
And a little something from Director Bruce McDonald.
Allow me to continue to introduce to you the individuals who’ll be bringing you Dark Matter:
Production Manager Robbie David enjoys a lonely lunch. Check out the heartbreaking look in his eyes.
B Camera Operator Anton Van Rooyen is as careful with his diet as he is with his camera.
Pre-nuptial B Dolly Grip Phil Calambakas. Sorry, ladies, he’s off the market!
3rd Assistant Director Lauren Guyatt is super fun. A terrific addition to any production – or party.
Dark Matter trailer! Tomorrow!
That item is a belt driven compressor, should be quite a quiet one too 😉
Looking forward to the trailer!
I can’t wait to see the trailer. Been patiently waiting to see what everyone looks like in character.
cant wait to see the promo 🙂
It’s been fun adding together the bits and pieces you’ve been giving us – now it’s time to see the pages and characters come to life!
I feel tipsy just ready all that! Or maybe it’s the beer.
Anyway, great to see more of the crew. Thanks so much to all of them!
I’m really looking forward to the trailer. I just know it will be great.
Still getting ready to go for my trip (again) to the Grand Canyon, a six day backpacking trip. I’m almost ready to go though, and I don’t leave until Saturday, so I’ll be ready in plenty of time.
Baby bourbon….pour me in!
I can’t wait to see the trailer, especially want too see what zoie looks like.
Another awesome post!! Thank you Joe. Did you ever watch Bruce’s movie Pontypool? Whenever you got some spare time (haha) sit down and watch it. The direction is great.
Haaaaaaaay Graaaaant. 😛
A 220V shop compressor…sweet! It looks like a 60 gallon two stage unit. That should drive some serious power tools, or maybe some compressed air effects for filming. Now I want a big compressor like that for my home shop…
The scotch club overfloweth! And what did you think of the Ardbeg; too peaty? Not peaty enough? With spring coming, I’m thinking of trying a new Kentucky bourbon or maybe an Irish whiskey. I have to go see what’s on offer locally.
And I’ll have to catch the trailer tomorrow night (hopefully it will be on Youtube); I’ve got one more day of inertial and Kalman filter training and then I’ll have my evenings to myself again.
I fly back to Chicagoland on Saturday morning, so tomorrow night I think I’ll go visit a crab shack and get myself some steamed blue crabs to celebrate the end to a long week.
Good night all!
It feels like Christmas Eve.
“220…221…whatever it takes.”
So – posting a link to the trailer here would be fabulous. Then we could all copy it and circulate it!
Save travels JeffW. We had some stormy weather today. I hope everyone is okay here in the Chicago area.
Now I wanna sit back and read a good book, and sip a good single malt. With my tummy troubles this winter I couldn’t have any alcohol due to the medication I was on. All those cold winter nights went to waste. 🙁 I love single malt in the winter, sitting in my reading corner with a good book and a kitty curled up next to me. It wasn’t to be this winter. But I am better, off the meds, and…it IS cold and rainy tonight…soooooo…
Yeah. I just might read a good book right now. 😉

Hey, serious question – For snacking, beer is good with…well…just about anything. Wine is good with chocolate and cheese. What pairs well with whisky?
Besides more whisky…
das
very cool I’ll be watching the trailer on my brand new Galaxy S6 edge Woot Woot.
@Das:
Cheese and crackers (biscuits in the Queen’s English).
@Sparrow_hawk:
Barb was a little concerned but she and the kids were fine. I hope no one was hurt in Rochelle.
@JettW…last I heard there was a fatality at the demolished steak place. And, another report – derrr don’t remember where – said 7 injuries, but not life threatening.
Yeah…a reallllly nasty day and night in the area.
Safe travels home
I love your food area for Dark Matter, Joe. As I recall, your food area for Stargate was a tent on the lot. The food was good through.
@ Jeff W – I went with cheese and a pear. Worked out well! 😀 Thanks for the answer, too!

Trailer? Yes! Can’t wait to see everyone in action. Now that you’re on the East Coast Scotland is only a few hours away (5 or so, maybe 7) so why not plan a quick trip to the source of all that whiskey? With a stop in Paris to check out the restaurants of course.
With whiskey (or whisky) I like dark chocolate.
Bread pudding is good, too.
Maybe a good, dense, vanilla pound cake – but I haven’t tried that yet.
I’ve not paired it with any dinner foods, mostly because I like beer or wine with dinner.
But I, too, would love to have suggestions about pairing foods. Like maybe bourbon and BBQ?
@JeffW: I’m glad everything is okay. Rochelle is fine but the small town of Fairdale was devastated. The tornado also missed DeKalb and Sycamore.
Nice! I’m looking forward to that trailer!
I’ve heard very good things about the Glenmorangie Nectar D’or and have been meaning to pick up a bottle. Now I’ll add that Hudson Baby Bourbon to the list.
Bruce McDonald dropping off a bottle of The Balvenie! I knew I liked that guy.
Happy trailer day 🙂
Still not out yet as I write this but hopefully soon.
I just saw the trailer! It is amazing! I’m really looking forward to this show.
It’s out! Ho boy! This looks like it’s gonna be fun!
Just saw the syfy promo….BRILLIANT!
http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/04/10/dark-matter-exclusive-trailer-for-syfys-new-series?abthid=5527e2613994cd4b5a00000a
Just saw the trailer and it’s really well made and I think you are going to get a lot of those old “SciFi” viewers back with this one. As for me, it’s a bit too SGUish for my tastes from what I can see, a bit dark if you will. I wish you, the production co, the actors and everyone involved at least 5 wonderful seasons! Unfortunately, it’s just not quite enough for me to get over my residual anger issues at Syfy for cancelling SGA all those years ago. (Although if you get Joe F in for a guest spot I imagine I’d consider it….) I truly do wish you all well though and hope tons of other people tune in around the world!!!!!!!
Great trailer, and shows that some of the crew know how to do stuff instinctively. Like the part with Four being asked if he knows how to use those swords and showing him that he can, and Six having piloting? knowledge.
Just saw the promo… love the final line “….because we’re dangerous.” I am excited again about watching scifi 😉 Now if I can only convince you to take on Star Trek next…
I can’t stop watching that trailer!
The Dark Matter Facebook page has released the trailer. Brilliant!
Okay, I hit rewind on that trailer at least 6 times and I will go back for more. You catch different things with each view. Very layered, visually exciting, dynamic — wow, I thought I was excited for this series before, but now… Yowza!
Dark Matter looks fabulous!!

At the bottom of the IGN trailer article it says that Dark Matter aired Dec 1969 lol. Some time travel stuff going on? 🙂
As expected, this looks exciting. Well done! Can’t wait for summer
Just saw the trailer myself. It looks like it’ll be suspenseful and action packed and everything(we regulars already knew that), but knowing you and what you’ve been sharing with us these last few months, we know it’ll be funny as well. With DH in it, how can it not?
LOVE the lighting! (I know, I notice some weird stuff sometimes, but for me it’s what really helps the show sink in sometimes.)
I found it hilarious that in some people’s attempts to drag the show down before even watching any of it, there are people in the comments section of IGN’s page stating that DM is reusing SGU’s sets since it’s filmed in Vancouver by the same people who made SGU. In the famous words of Dwight Schrute: False! Some people really need to get a clue….
-Mike A.
Watched the trailer…well done Joe! Well done!!!
The trailer looks great! das and I have posted it on Facebook.
Yep.
Can’t wait!
Well, actually reposted or posted links on Facebook so our friends and relatives who might like it but haven’t liked the Dark Matter page yet can see it and get hooked.
@ Mike A. – I find IGN’s comment section unbearable. I like the articles at that site, but the commenters seem to be mostly close-minded, sexist people.
Because we’re dangerous.
Cool!!
Hello Robbie, Anton, Phil and Lauren. Robbie’s look doesn’t say “heartbreak” To me it says, “get that friggin’ camera out of my face while I’m eating.”
