This same time last year, on a bit of a lark,

I thought I would take some time off from the snark,

And compose a brief poem filled with puzzling clues,

For fans of the show to deduce should they choose.

As such I suppose I’ve raised expectations,

That this year include some like revelations,

Ensconced in an opus of rhythm and rhyme,

Awaiting discovery from those who have time.

While I hadn’t intended to write one this season,

I suppose it should certainly stand within reason,

That in order to get you to give it a rest,

I author another and grant your request.

So here is this year’s abstruse composition,

Designed for you fans who possess the volition,

To examine and study its cryptic contents,

In a bid to unearth hints to future events.

The brilliant one slowly loses his mind,

While a group of replacements puts the team in a bind.

Wallace’s research a menace let loose.

The key to success is compress not diffuse.

A relationship blossoms, an engagement is planned.

An old enemy sweeps down and gains the upper hand.

In an underground chamber the trio is stuck,

While Sheppard battles some really bad luck.

A corpse is discovered and John plays detective.

The city assailed by mutations infective.

Call the doctor from Earth to help us take action,

As the death of a loved one spurs McKay into action.

Get talked into escorting a precocious young brat.

The experiment’s minions the team will combat.

A battle is waged on the defender’s home field,

And the means of production is fully revealed.

Two warriors head off an incursion on Earth.

A mission is snagged by an untimely birth.

The status quo shifts, a power play made.

The arrival of this one leave some feeling dismayed.

An old friend returns, loyalties are reversed,

And a ghost from the past has us fearing the worst.

Atlantis the target of a mysterious race,

While myriad permutations are viewed from space.

So just like last year here are intriguing notions,

Sure to, no doubt, stir up strong fan emotions.

But do keep in mind while you revel or groan,

That it’s still very early. Nothing’s written in stone.

  1. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I both love and hate you at the same time for this. Thank you soooooooo much.

I hope you are going to dissect it for us on a later date like you did last years poem. Cause that would be reallllllllllllllllllly awesome.

Have you ever read The Color of Magic?

  2. HAPPY NEW YEAR SMOKIN’ JOE MALLOZZI!!

My brain is too blegh to read the poem
as I sit here in my aussie home
coffee at hand , sleep in my eyes
    not the mind to analyse

I’ll just go over it now, nice and lightly
and will return and refer to your poem nightly
To dissect and ponder with fellow Gaters
But just for now… I’ll work on it laters

Hope you, Fondy, Andria and mama Joe have a lovely night bringing in the new year. Hugs to da pugs!

  3. Happy New Year Joe!
Thank you for the poem, I love the challenge of dissecting. I think I have a few ideas already…

  4. Happy new year!

Some of the lines I get, having surfed for spoilers (plus one or two have already aired). Some of them are completely mysterious and intriguing. Lots to ponder, as the second half begins this Friday.

  5. Most excellent Joe!!! You will have us pulling our hair out in vexation, trying to figure out what the clues mean and to what episode they belong!

    Happy New Years everyone!!!

    Kimberly

  6. Thanks for crypticness to mull over….it was officially the first thing I have read this year…Happy New Year to you and all those you hold dear….but enough of that gooey sh….ow of emotion, I’m off to get plastered 😉

  7. Ok, not to be ungrateful, but a question for the poem:

Are they all for the back half of Season 4 and some notions of Season 5? Because it seems that one of the lines (“While a group of replacements puts the team in a bind”) seems to be about This Mortal Coil. Just want to make sure, you know?

  8. Hope the Mallozzi Clan has a fantastic 2008!

I’m content to read the poem, then wait for the shows to air. No sense trying to spoil my surprise, is there? 😉

  9. The poem is so totally kewl! You rock JM!

Happy New Year Joe, Fondy, Joe’s Mom and Joe’s sister, Jelly, Maximus, Bubba, & Lulu!

  10. You are deliciously evil! Thank you for more hours of fun and frustration than we have a right to expect.

    Happy New Year!

  11. Happy New Year Joe!
I think I’ll write a mini poem (though no where as good as yours), and it sort of rhymes. Slant rhymes at least.
Thanks for the poem fraught of all cryptic clues,
hours to mull over without food or a snooze.
And off to the forums, we go to discuss
While you watch in laughter, we’re off by so much
Reading this I must say, I must go and confess.
I wish you had kept all your rhymes in “The Quest.”
And in this penultimate line, I think I will say
Happy New Year and Thank you for making my day.

  12. Look at you Mr Mallozzi, at your clever verse
Rilling up the fans, your so sure.
With all those thoughts and hints you glee
Watching us all from a far and we will all plee,
For more information, for more tibbits please,
You see were obsesed sucking it up like flees.

Not only do I have the time to dispher you little query
I have time to write my own! I’m sure your weary.
Not nearly filled with instights as yours
But never the less entertaining for sure.

I can only guess what all this could mean,
All these notions and hints can’t wait to be seen.
I will be patient and I will wait,

Nothings written in stone so you write with pleasure
All the comments to follow are litmus tests to measure
What the fans will think of season fours ender.

HEHE… hope you liked it.. I know a little weak at the end there but hey I’m no professional.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

    Penny

  13. AAAAAAAAAACK!!!!! 🙂 But very, very interesting all the same… Happy New Year to the Mallozzi clan. 🙂

  14. Happy New Year Joe!

Hope 2008 keeps bringing you joy, good food and wonderful times.

  15. As I stumble from partying pissed and replete,
to read what your blogs says in stunned disbelief.
Once more you impress us with your rhyming prose,
And divulge many spoilers to digest in repose.
The clues you have hinted are not set in stone,
so I hope you will help us and throw us a bone.
dissecting your whimsy with vim and with vigour
deciphering your clues with grave fannish rigour
you’re cryptic and crucial with knowledge to spare
Just enough of a hint of what you may dare
On this note I will leave you, I need to replenish
can’t think of another way that I might finish.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ONE AND ALL

    Moyz

    *salutes, sips, falls over*zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  16. Indeed!
    According to Dictionary.com:
    licentiousness
    (noun)
    1. the quality of being lewd and lascivious
    2. dissolute indulgence in sensual pleasure [syn: profligacy]

I thought this was a PG-rated blog? Ha!
I shall enjoy deciphering the clues Mr. M.
Thank you and please have a very Stargate New Year!

  17. Joe,

You are actually pretty darn good at the poetry thing. Color me impressed.

    Gwen

  18. Thanks for the poem, are any of these dissections correct?

Please answer my questions. Are you going to do a poem dissection, please? Also, are any of my comments on your poem correct? Thanks.

  19. LOLOLOL to everyone’s poems! They are all quite wonderful and entertaining!!! Thanks so much!

    8:45 pm…New Year 2008 is almost here!!

    Kimberly

  20. Happy New Year a couple of hours late. It took me this long to get back from the pub where, apparently, it was fancy dress. I was not told this. Good tidings etc….

  21. The sunlight has waned and the year fades away
I wander the Web one final day
Mallozzi has posted! I grin ear to ear
But wait, fiendish torture awaits I do fear
Line by line I eageraly devour
Caring not how late is the hour
Smug satisfaction quickly away does drain
Some of these verse are in incredible pain
Title and verse I strive to make match
Meaning and plot from lines I must snatch
Lines twice two dozen are given
What four episodes from me must be hidden?
Enough of my rhyming too poorly done
The New Year approaches and time to have Fun
Thank for the gift that so sublimely does tease
Its secrets we’ll ferrett though not with ease
A Happy New Year, a great Season Five
May your dreams not be haunted by visits from Hives

On that note I give up and simply say thanks, and Happy New years to all, and most especially Mr. M and his family.

  22. An apology for mispellings and misdone lines. I blame it on a nanovirus infestation that is obviously infecting my brain..

  23. Cute poem, Joe. Very cute. May you and your family and friends have a great 2008!

  24. Another year over and a new one begun
And already you’ve graced us with a new conundrum
To spark off a frenzy of hypotheses
The fandom to confuse, confuddle and tease

And whilst I would love to participate
I have to admit that it’s really quite late
And at nearly 3am my brain doesn’t work
So forgive me if my share of speculation I shirk

I’m sure I’ll return on the morrow refreshed
Ready to give your puzzle my best
So until that time I bid you good cheer
And wish you a very Happy New Year!

  25. Happy New Year 2008
And the means of production is fully revealed
    the ZPM factory final right

  26. since i won’t be on your blog come midnight,

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 😀

for this fan, i’m hoping 2008 brings great sam moments in atlantis and a confirmation that sam and jack are in an intimate relationship together.

forget world peace and stuff like that, just make me a happy stargate fan! 😛

btw, are mama and sis still there to celebrate the new year with you and your fam? if so, i wish them a HAPPY NEW YEAR too. 🙂

    sally 😀

  27. Do you remember where I left my copy of Princess Bride? Or maybe I’m just imagining I have a copy. Quit confusing me, Joe. Apparently I fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

  28. Pauline Says:
    December 29, 2007 at 7:29 pm

Now if we’re talking Football we must be talking Soccer and I happen to live in a city with two of the best Football teams in the world, Liverpool and Everton.
Snap! lets call it football not soccer I hate that word, by the way a red or a blue personally it’s red but my mum’s family are all blues

  29. I have a love/hate relationship with your poem because now I’ll be forced to stay up tonight and try to figure it out…between drinking and seeing the new year in that is!! Maybe it will all be so clear after a few drinks…eh? Joe, may you and your lovely family and cute puppies all have a very Happy New Year!!!

  30. i opened my browser and started to scroll,
and what did i see? mr. joe on a roll!
he called it an opus of rhythm and rhyme
gave us some hints, and had a good time.

(at least that’s the fancy i like to believe,
but maybe he’s off crying into his sleeve?
saddened by what he was forced to produce…
but no, thinking that would just make me a goose!
better to think that he’s having some fun
    taunting and teasing ’bout everyone.
or maybe he’s seeing if we’re on our toes
    or falling for…goodness! nobody knows.
or believing just what we’d most like to hear?)

thank you for poet-ing, and happy new year!

(good grief! it seems to be contagious…. i blame YOU. *gd&r*)

  31. Come on blue, come on…and it’s…

    Pauline

should have read on before posting bad habit, so is that my answer I wounder, guess I just got excited to realise a fellow scouser was on the blog.

  32. There was a man from Nantucket…

Okay, maybe I’ll leave the rhymes to other people.

Thank you for this! Can’t wait to see how the rest of the season unfolds!

  33. Who’d have thought Mallozzi could rhyme clues and events
Using words such as ‘time’ and ‘unfortunate event’

This fan will not fall into your dastardly plan, not again
For to forage and flounder with inane clues would be such a pain

Only on Joe’s blog would one see fans in such a twiz
To decipher the clues and see what it is

So written in stone it will have to stay
For I’m off for a drink no time to play

And if you think this poem doesn’t rhyme you’d be correct
For a poet I’m not, not in any respect.

With apologies to everyone else who wrote brilliantly and to every poet who has ever put pen to paper!

And to sgakaz I give the traditional Scouse greeting “I ya lar, ows it goin’?’”
Of course it does lose a lot in translation but in the Queens English it comes out something like this “Oh hello, how are you?”
My family support both teams it depends on whose winning!!!

    Pauline

  34. 1) You are a terrible tease. *eyes the poem*

    2) Happy 2008 from Toronto, ON!!!!! Looks like a bright year for you to look forward to in, what? 3 hours or so? 😉

  35. Happy New Year! 😀 (I keep adding “Tanjoubi” to my “Omedetou”s, I’m so used to wishing people Happy Birthday at the ADB board! I gotta remember that it’s *just* Omedetou for New Year’s! *headdesk*)

The brilliant one slowly loses his mind,

Mmmm, that sounds like Rodney angst! I hope so! 😀

As the death of a loved one spurs McKay into action.

Eeek! I hope that’s not Jeannie!! 🙁 (Don’t worry, I’ll still watch even if it is! ;))

  36. “as the death of a loved one spurs mckay into action”… this could be ( I emphasize ‘could’) “Miller’s Crossing”. The death of a loved one (the daughter of the kidnapper) spurs Mckay into action because Jeannie herself had nannites and he was worried it’d kill her. Never said that the loved one had to be Mckays.. so nyeah!!!! LOL

I see we’ve been hit with the poetry bug!

  37. Always the best to read in the new year! Have a happy new year Joe, I’m as confused as I was last year reading your poem, I’ll never understand what you mean until somebody explains it to me or after the episodes aired!!!
I know you are doing that on purpose, but couldn’t you reveal something more detailed??? I’m dying of curiosity!!!

    hugs

    Siba

  38. Joe,

I’ve been hoping for the past couple months that you would write us another poem. Thanks.

Happy New Year to one and all.

  39. Well, it’s 10 past Midnight here in Vancouver, so HAPPY NEW YEAR, JOE!!

Let’s hope that a year from now we’ll be reading a spoiler poem about Season 6 notions!

  40. Thanks for the poem Joe… I should have resolved to avoid trying to dissect teasers 😉

A very Happy New Year to you, Fondy, your families and the beasties 🙂

  41. Happy New Year Joe!
    Lovely poem you’re very talented.
Now back to business -> I have a question about Continuum do Jack & Sam have any emotional moments with each other?

  42. Yay! A puzzle! How very exciting–can’t wait to watch and figure it out (^-^) Happy New Year!

  43. On the Poet’s Licentiousness

Some clues make me well able to guess; some cause me to feel like a most witless goose:
I’d chance a speculation or two, but likely would put my poor head in a noose.
While with hints it’s all a-flutter (speaking still of that head),
My brain’s on autopilot, and I must needs go to bed –
    Not without regrets, for of said license I read none;
Reason compels me, therefore, to assume it a clever pun.
Au fin, one thing is certain: your poetic discourse,
With its twists and its turns, is a real tour de force.

Formidable, m’sieu! Reading this magnum opus enables me to end a lovely evening with nocturnal levity. – Again, Happy New Year!

  44. Another poem! SQUEEEE!!!

That’s all I’ve got to say this morning!

Thank you, and Happy New Year!

Kisou, <3<3

  46. That was a very nice way to start the year. Thanks for that, I think I understood a surprising amount of that, or at least hope I do!

  47. Love the poem, just enough to make me want to watch the rest of season 4 even more than I already do, and not so much that I feel spoiled about a major event (well appart from Teyla giving birth, but this is not really a secret anymore :p).

On another note : happy new year to you and your family 🙂

  48. Too much booze to understand poem Happy New Year to you and yours and many more years of sga!!Thanksxx

  49. Happy New Year Joe to you and your family from me and mine!! Thank you for the poem…as always…you have me laughing!! I won’t even bother trying to decipher it but I will have fun watching everyone else pulling their hair out over it! It’s brilliant!
You wouldn’t be able to send some of your winter wonderland down under? We’re melting in 40C plus heat!!! Which has me wondering, what is the hottest temperature you’ve had to work in?
Thank you Joe! Take care ~ luv chelle

  50. Here’s my (probably incorrect) take on your hints:

The brilliant one slowly loses his mind,
(Rodney or Zelenka has a psychotic break?)

While a group of replacements puts the team in a bind.
(This sounds like the cloned team from “This Mortal Coil”. Perhaps they didn’t die? Our team would have to decide what to do with them.)

Wallace’s research a menace let loose.
    (Definitely “Outcast”.)

The key to success is compress not diffuse.
(Absolutely no idea here. Maybe Rodney’s save-the-day solution?)

A relationship blossoms, an engagement is planned.
(“Quarantine”: Rodney & Katie in the Botany lab.)

An old enemy sweeps down and gains the upper hand.
(Michael would be a good bet.)

In an underground chamber the trio is stuck,
    (“Trio”. Thanks for the ‘gimme’.)

While Sheppard battles some really bad luck.
(Since this could be coupled with the line above — comma, not period — this could be the B story in “Trio”. John, Teyla and Ronon have to be doing something.)

A corpse is discovered and John plays detective.
(Hmmm. Fairly straight forward, but no idea which episode.)

The city assailed by mutations infective.
(While “Quarantine” sounds like the safe bet, I’m going to go with “The Last Man”.)

Call the doctor from Earth to help us take action,

As the death of a loved one spurs McKay into action.
(I doubt you’ll kill Jeannie, so I’m going to say Katie. “Kindred” has some sort of “mysterious new illness” so that’s a possibility and, with my comma-period theory, the line above must refer to it as well.)

Get talked into escorting a precocious young brat.
(“Harmony”, of course. Thanks for another ‘gimme’.)

The experiment’s minions the team will combat.
    (Michael’s bug-creatures, so “Kindred”?)

A battle is waged on the defender’s home field,

And the means of production is fully revealed.
(Is this the Wraith birth scene in “Spoils of War”? If so, using my comma-period theory, the line above also refers to “Spoils of War”, possibly the Wraith’s home world.)

Two warriors head off an incursion on Earth.
    (Ronon & Teal’c in “Midway”.)

A mission is snagged by an untimely birth.
(I assume Teyla gives birth. It would be so funny if Rodney had to deliver the baby!)

The status quo shifts, a power play made.
    (Again, I have no idea.)

The arrival of this one leave some feeling dismayed.
(Well, some fans won’t be happy with the return of Larrin in “Be All My Sins Remember’d”, even if she does tie Sheppard up.)

An old friend returns, loyalties are reversed,
(old friend = Beckett? If so, the “Kindred” episodes.)

And a ghost from the past has us fearing the worst.
(Weir’s 4th appearance? Comma-period theory would make this “Kindred” “Kindred, Pt 2” or, possibly, “Spoils of War”.)

Atlantis the target of a mysterious race,
    (The slightly-hinted-at non-human aliens?)

While myriad permutations are viewed from space.
(I’ll guess “The Last Man” for both of these, but not with any real conviction.)

    So, how’d I do?

    Anne Teldy

  51. Hi Joe!

Hope you enjoyed your New Year’s Eve!! We got hit with the snow we should have got hit with at Christmas! Have you read the Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson books that are the prequels to the Peter Pan series? They are “Peter and the Starcatchers”, “Peter and the Shadowthieves”, and “Peter and the Secret of Rundoon”. I’ve read the first book and I will be reading books 2 & 3 for the next 2 weeks. My oldest daughter (Marianne, 15) has read all three. They are very well written and explain a lot about Peter, Hook, and Neverland. Have a great day! Looking forward to season kicking into gear again on Friday!!!
    Jen 🙂

  52. “Call the doctor from Earth to help us take action…”

Oh, I wish this was Carson.

  53. Oy! After reading your blog and the responses, I can’t stop thinking in prose…

I’m no poet, so I’ll leave it to the rest of you.

So, Happy New Year to you and your family!

  54. Happy 2008 now Joe!
(Looks like your blog is doing well – 12th most popular post – though you may already know that).
Hope you’re having a good new years day!

  55. Hello! Hope you had a happy new year!

You’re so evil! I can’t get HALF of this! Evil, evil man. Can I check your neck for any entry wounds? Or test out an ARG on you?

  56. I just rewatched Sunday, and I noticed a few things:

First, my condolences on the loss of your collection of Anime DVDs to Zelenka, and my congratulations on receiving your doctorate.

Second, the “explosive tumor”. When McKay was explaining how the process worked, he said that the radiation emitted from the device started the growth of the tumors, which then gathered the “raw materials” needed to complete the “bomb” from the body itself and, when the tumor reached critical mass, it exploded. So . . . since Carson removed the tumor from Watson’s body before it exploded, it stands to reason that it hadn’t yet reached critical mass, and, once it had been removed, it no longer had access to the raw materials it needed to complete the growth stage. This just begs the question: If the tumor no longer had access to the raw materials needed to complete the process, how could it have reached critical mass and exploded? I don’t buy that the tumor was just on the verge of exploding when Carson removed it because it sat in the organ transplant case for awhile before Carson got impatient and decided to take it and meet the bomb disposal unit “halfway”. I also don’t buy that there was something in the case that allowed the tumor to complete the process as I can’t believe that, given the situation, McKay would neglect to tell Carson that, if he did succeed in removing the tumor, he should ensure that it is not placed in proximity to anything that would allow the process to complete. So, how did the tumor manage to explode?

Third, in the commentary, Martin Gero said that Joe Flannigan hates wearing the dress blues, despite looking quite good in them (which he does). However, every time I see Joe F. in a suit, and this is just my opinion, I don’t know about anyone else, he always strikes me as looking like he’d rather be anywhere else than in that suit. Maybe it’s just the California beach boy image I have of him or the laid back way he has, but he seems like he’d be more comfortable surfing or bombing around on his skateboard.

Lastly, this is a message to anneteldy from Dr. Mckay:

Please return Maj. Lorne now. The holidays are over, and he has to get back to Atlantis. And, no, we didn’t make as much of a fuss to get him back as we did Sheppard because you took Sheppard by stealth, while Lorne was warned to stay away from you. He chose not to and, therefore, had to suffer the consequences.

  57. I’m not even going to TRY the poem-puzzle, but here’s some New Year’s fun from the Houston Chronicle:

AUSTIN — Romi Burks went to Belgium four years ago to study the behavior of a shrimp-like crustacean but found inspiration in the region’s rich, dark chocolate.

An aquatic biologist with a degree in English, Burks has long tried to find balance between her interests in science and the liberal arts.

Chocolate helped her bridge that gap.

After returning to Southwestern University in Georgetown, where she is an assistant professor of biology, Burks began reading everything she could find about chocolate.

“It just amazed me how many examples within culture and within disciplines that could be connected with chocolate,” Burks said.

She developed what she believes to be the first college course in the country that offers an interdisciplinary approach to chocolate. Students in her course not only get to taste some of the best bars around, they also learn about different cultures, marketing and fair trade.

“Multi-Chocolated: An Aesthetic, Historical and Scientific Journey into the Wonders of Chocolate,” was one of 28 freshman seminars offered last fall at Southwestern. Eight male and six female students signed up for the class, which will be offered again next fall.

  58. More on chocolate:

While celebrating with my extended family this past week, I discovered a new taste treat.

Fresh, soft Milk Chocolate Fudge (The Fudge Shoppe, Flemington, NJ) and Tostitos dip chips (the small, thick, round ones). Yum!

  59. Ok, I’ll take one stab at the poem.

“The key to success is compress not diffuse.”
    Fusion, not fission!

Credit my long history of scifi reading/watching if I’m right.

  60. Its taken some pondering on what we surmise
to be clues for the future, and heres the surprise
We’re older not wiser at this point in time
requests will be coming in form of a rhyme.
For myself I would like to see much more of Carter
and would it be pointless to ask for more laughter?
some others would like to see many more ‘ships
some angst and some whumping, and more earthbound trips.
Backstories for Shepard, for Lorne and Zelenka
a huge mess of fans would surely thank ya
To find out what happened to Ford and to Weir
to see Carson again, well he was such a dear.
We’ve given you hints and to some it seems trite
its all down to you and to what you will write.

you’ve done it this time tho with your little ditty
the rhyme buttons stuck and it isn’t so witty
I need it to stop now or else I am doomed
to spend even more time locked up in my room.
the kids find it wearing to hear me rhyme
everything that i mention and all of the time
I must take my leave now its getting quite late
now I’ve bored you to tears and I can’t get a date
this rhyme just wont stop it could go on and on
or you could just shoot me, I’ll loan you my gun.

  61. Sad person that I am I looked up the Simpsons question and came up with this answer. All those years in research came in really useful!!!

“Kiss, Kiss Bang Bangalore” #373 Simpsons aired on Fox on the 9th April 2006

Season Nine of Stargate SG1 ran 15th July 2005 ‘Avalon part 1’. #175 through to 10th March 2006. ‘Camelot’ #194

Season Ten began with ‘Flesh and Blood’ #195 14th July 2006.
    So it was season Nine.

As we know RDA left in season eight.

    Pauline

  62. YES!!!!!!! You did the poem. I love your poems. For someone who doesn’t enjoy reading poetry, you sure do an excellent job writing it.

“Call the doctor from Earth to help us take action…”
*sigh* I wish this was Daniel, but since he’s not in season 4……

We had a major snow storm last night Joe. 12″ and it’s still snowing!! Of course the kids love it. “Yeah snowboarding” they yell. “Crap snowplowing” I mutter. On the bright side, we only have another 3 months left of this gorgeous white stuff.

Did I mention I can’t wait till spring.

    Dear Dr. McKay,

First off, for the six hundred and twenty-seventh time, I DID NOT KIDNAP SHEPPARD. I merely placed him in protective custody.

As for Maj. Lorne, any suffering he did was at his own request. He is, of course, free to leave whenever he wishes but I assure you , he doesn’t wish.

    Anne Teldy (aka Mistress Anne)

  64. Hello Joe,

Happy 2008 to you and your family, and thank you for the poem 🙂 I think I’m going to do something different with the back half of season 4 and not delve into all the spoilers gateworld, etc. have to offer, so I look forward to being pleasantly surprised as the meaning of your words is revealed in the upcoming weeks.

    All the best,
    VL

    Dear Dr. McKay,

To: Dr. McKay and Co. & anneteldy (aka Mistress Anne)

Okay, that’s it! I have had it!

I have blocked your email addresses! If you want to send messages to each other, you will have to use someone else’s email account to do so.

On a final parting shot, Ms. Teldy, why don’t you let the nice man go and take Dr. McKay instead? Dr. McKay, I think you should pay Ms. Teldy a personal visit to retrieve this Lorne person. This way you won’t have to email each other and you can get your obvious attraction out of your systems. Just a thought.

    Sincerely,

    cat4444

  66. Anne give Maj. Lorne back his freedom you know it makes sense.

If you build it….no sorry that’s the wrong platitude.

If you let him go and he comes back….no that’s not it either, oh sod it!

Just keep him we won’t say anything but you’ve got to feed him and look after him…and so long as you share!!!!

By the way who has Sheppard now?

    Pauline (unfortunately no ones Mistress

  67. *waves*

    *reads all the ther proses*

I tried, but………. oh my I do not feel well. I’ll be better tomorrow I hope. 🙂

What a great way to end, the old year with a prose,
and at giving us clues as to what the new season holds.
It might take me a while, to work out your rhyme,
but i’ll certainly try as you’ve been ever so kind.
To spoil the whole fandom with your spoilery verse,
I fear that the team’s missions are getting decidely worse,
but none more so than my hangover,
    which doesn’t want to go,
so i’ll save the deciphering until the end of my woe.

But it doesn’t mean that, I don’t appreciate this,
it’s just i’m still feeling quite tender, and am probably still pissed.
So for now i’ll just appreciate, all the spoiler bits galore,
only one thing I need to ask, are some from season 4?

    Happy New Year!

    *hugs*

Thank you Mr M you’re an absolute star. 😀

  68. Bravo & Happy New Year! Unfortunately I guess I’ve done too much nosing n’ snooping, can’t leave things alone so I think I get most of the references (unhappily in a couple cases). But I will be more than happy to watch each episode carefully and confirm or destroy any suppositions on my part. Can’t wait til Friday to start.

After seeing the sappy holiday Lifetime movie Under the Mistletoe, I think it would be a great idea for Lt. Cadman to be in Atlantis when Daniel Jackson makes another visit.
And after viewing a couple more of these vaguely depressing kill-myself-for-the-holidays Lifetime movies, I think some room needs to be made in Atlantis for actor Steve Bacic as well (he was SGC before Camulus but if he stays alive & allied why not?) just a thought. I like the guy.

  69. Hi Joe,

Hope you’re enjoying a relaxing New Year’s Day. I was just watching a couple of episodes during the “Monk” marathon and as the credits rolled at the end of one of the episodes I spotted a listing for “Stargate Digitial.” I found it amusing, but I presume there’s no connection to “our” Stargate, right?

    Thanks,
    Jennie 🙂

  70. Aww, Joe. You old softie. You might tarnish your reputation for being an evil despot. 🙂

Wheeee! I am lovin’ trying to figure this out.

Are we getting you down to DragonCon? I SO owe you a dinner.

  71. Can you tell us if the cast has all re-upped for season 5: Joe F, David H, Rachel & Jason? thx!

  72. Happy New Year and thank you for the wonderful poem!
Where do you find the hours in a day to craft such a work?
    Don’t ever stop being awesome~

  73. Now I wish I watched Atlantis, so I could try figuring this thing out 🙂

Couldn’t have done something like this for the SG movies? No? Okay 🙂

  74. Good evening! I’ve been a long time reader but this is the first time commenting. Firstly, I wanted to wish you and yours a wonderful New Year!

Secondly, I did have a question.

I recently stumbled upon an interview with you that was posted on A Slice of Sci Fi, you mentioned Carl was a WGA member and was on strike with fellow members. A commenter on this interview had posted a reply, saying,

“In the event that the Screen Actors Guild makes good on their threat to go on strike in the summer of 2008 (right in the middle of filming Season 5), Joe Flanigan and Jason Momoa (the only two Americans on the cast) will have to walk off the set, leaving the show with only three regular cast members (Luttrell, Hewlett and Tapping, who are Canadian and thus unaffected by a SAG strike).”

I was curious if there was any truth behind this “rumor” that if the Screen Actors Guild goes on strike that it’ll affect Joe Flanigan and Jason Momoa finishing off the fifth season?

    Thank you!

  75. Thanks Joe, the poem was great!

Now I just want to know how it all happens and who to.

Question: In the infirmary scene in Doppleganger when Ronon goes to get his head sewn up, was the scene written as Ronon and Sheppard etting up some alone time for Ronon and Keller? There’s nothing specific in it, but it felt to me lethat’s how Joe and Jason where playing it.

  76. Quiliani,

Thanks for the link. I voted SGA of course.. went further to the ‘hottest actor’ and was rather miffed that not ONE actor from SGA was in the category!! Wha???

No Jason Momoa, Joe Flanigan ?? Are they blind?? Instead some wing nut dude from BG. Ugh… their tastes are in their… never mind.

From the poem, I’d summise that “The brilliant one slowly loses his mind” Would be Mckay from Tabula Rasa? I’m sure Joe’s including the eps we’ve already seen!

  77. Thanks for the poem Joe. You have no idea how jealous I am of your incredible vocabulary skills!
I wish you and the rest of the cast and crew a Happy New Year 🙂

  78. Ok heres my theory

In a bid to unearth hints to future events.
    (seer)

The brilliant one slowly loses his mind,
    (Tabula Rasa/ Last man?)

While a group of replacements puts the team in a bind.
    (This Mortal Coil)

Wallace’s research a menace let loose.
    (Outcast/Millers crossing)

The key to success is compress not diffuse.
    (Be all my sins)

A relationship blossoms, an engagement is planned.
    (Quarantine)

An old enemy sweeps down and gains the upper hand.
    (Spoils of war/Kindred)

In an underground chamber the trio is stuck,
    (Trio)

While Sheppard battles some really bad luck.
    (last man/travelers/doppelganger)

A corpse is discovered and John plays detective.
    (outcast)

The city assailed by mutations infective.
    (tabula Rasa/Quarantine)

Call the doctor from Earth to help us take action,
    (Reunion) Referencing Carter

As the death of a loved one spurs McKay into action.
    (Last Man)

Get talked into escorting a precocious young brat.
    (Harmony)

The experiment’s minions the team will combat.
    (Kindred/Outcast)

A battle is waged on the defender’s home field,
    (Be all my sins)

And the means of production is fully revealed.
(Spoils of war) Referring to Wrath

Two warriors head off an incursion on Earth.
    (Midway)

A mission is snagged by an untimely birth.
    (Kindred)

The status quo shifts, a power play made.
    (Be all my sins)

The arrival of this one leave some feeling dismayed.
(Be all my sins) Referring to Larrin

An old friend returns, loyalties are reversed,
    (Kindred)

And a ghost from the past has us fearing the worst.
    (kindred)

Atlantis the target of a mysterious race,
    (last man)

While myriad permutations are viewed from space.
    (Adrift/Lifeline/seer)

So just like last year here are intriguing notions,

Sure to, no doubt, stir up strong fan emotions.

But do keep in mind while you revel or groan,

That it’s still very early. Nothing’s written in stone.

  79. Oh, very nice. Always lots of fun. Let’s see what I can make of it…

    McKay goes crazy.
    The duplicate team returns (yay!)
Hm…who’s Wallace? I imagine it’s in reference to some scientist, but there’s been too many with that name, I’m sure, to correctly guess just based on that.
Someone’s planning on getting married? Very interesting. McKay/Brown, perhaps? Or maybe a ship we’re not yet aware of?
I’m always for old enemies returning. (Well, maybe not Lucius, but otherwise…)
Detective story? Murder mystery? Sounds fun.
“Doctor from Earth”? Hm…does that mean strictly medical doctor, or is that the hint about the Daniel visitation? Either way, always love to see some old faces.
Death of McKay’s loved one I’m going to guess as Katie. Maybe things get serious, they get engaged, then something terrible and tragic happens to her just to prove that McKay’s life sucks, when the only woman who could stand to be with him dies. Just a wild guess.
“Precocious young brat” sounds potentially dangerous. As in, potentially lame. Hopefully not.
“Experiment’s minions”? Perhaps the return of the super-wraith? Would that mean more Michael? ‘Cause I’m all for more Michael.
Ah, and Teyla’s baby. Definitely looking forward to seeing how all that plays out.
“Ghost from the past”…now, is that literally a ghost (which seems unlikely), someone who was actually dead and has returned (which could mean potentially several different people), or just a general “face from the past” kind of thing?
The references to mutations and permutations has me a bit curious. Sounds rather interesting.

Of course, if some of those at the beginning are referencing episodes that have already aired, that messes that up. I’m going with the theory that you’re teasing for eps that haven’t already aired.

  80. Merry New Year!

Fun poem, thank you for taking the time to tease us, and for posting your blog for us to read.
